  • Special Education Audit Power Point Presentation. (What has been done?)
  • There are 29 Recommendations/5 Sections
  • PEC (Program of Exceptional Children) renamed- The Department of Special Education
  • There are improvements in RTI/SST process/ progress monitoring
  • Cross Training making huge difference in timelines
  • Referral and Eligibility Reporting are monitored and gains have been made in keeping deadlines and being in compliance
  • 100% of audits completed
  • Question posed: Could we see a breakdown of the growth in achievement for students with disabilities by cluster, grade charter v. traditional (CRCT)
  • Question posed: Graduation data SWD and Regular Ed graduation rate (How does this compared with General Ed?)
  • Continual training, evaluations and constant communication will prevent problems/breakdowns
  • Transitions from 5th to 6th, 8th to 9th grade are critical
  • Engage more principals/AP’s in a Special Education Committee in schools
  • Question posed: How do we build culture? There is not a systemic culture of inclusion.
  • Disproportionality is still an issue; funds are affected. APS is found to be disproportionate
