Aim
- To provide a proactive, highly aspirational coaching service, including information advice and guidance to motivate and empower homeless people to find sustainable employment
Dimension
- Responsible for managing a budget for financially supporting clients when they start work
Circumstances
- A satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for this role which will be checked against the Barred Lists for working withyoung adults and children
- 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work may be required, time off in lieu will be given in accordance with Crisis’ TOIL policy
- Based in London Skylight in Aldgate East
- This role is fully funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF)
Salary
- £34,545per annum
The Role
The Job Coaches form the backbone of the service that the Employment Services Team provides. They use a mixture of Coaching and Information, Advice and Guidance in order to support homeless and recently homeless people into work. The TMD (Tackling Multiple Disadvantage)JobCoach will support a variety of homeless peopleeligible for the TMD contract to get back into work.

Principle Accountabilities
- Manage a caseload of TMD eligible clients to support them into work
- Market the service to generate appropriate referrals and establish working relationships with relevant organisations
- Effectively assess and process participant enrolments to the project, ensuring that clients meet any eligibility criteria and are ready for the support they will receive
- Give appropriate job coaching, information, advice and support to clients on a one-to-one basis
- Conduct holistic assessments of clients’ needs, resulting in a clear and jointly agreed action plan to address any barriers to employment
- Deliver a flexible and accessible service to clients including, where necessary, an occasional early evening service
- Develop and deliver individual and group activity that builds upon participant peer support, training and employability skills
- Coach participants in developing practical skills in areas of budgeting and financial capability
- Undertake accurate and timely “better off” calculations for clients and provide appropriate advice on applying for “in and out of work” benefits
- Where necessary, effectively manage the signposting of clients to appropriate services, in line with the aims of the project, so that they receive a support package tailored to their needs
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of local programme provision, relevant agencies and opportunities for employment,training and volunteering
- Ensure the accurate and timely updating of the client database to inform monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Ensure all evidence of client activity and outcomes is collected and collated in accordance with Crisis and funder requirements

- Operate and encourage a client-focused culture to ensure that feedback is promoted and appropriately reported
General
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the charity’s work and the needs and circumstances of homeless people
- Comply with Crisis policies and procedures, including Health and Safety policies, for which all employees owe a duty of care both to themselves and others, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience of working on projects funded by European Social Fund, and in line with contract compliance requirements
- Educated to NVQ4in Information, Advice and Guidance, or relevant qualification/work experience in the sector or a similar post, and the willingness to study for IAG qualification
- Experience of supporting unemployed adults to find and sustain work
- Experience of promoting a service effectively to outside organisations
- Understanding the barriers unemployed and homeless people face in accessing training and employment
- Able to evidence working to employment related targets and achieving them
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, able to develop and maintain working relationships with a diverse range of providers and individuals
- Ability to coach clients to overcome the barriers to training and/or employment and meet their potential
- Sound organisational skills, able to: prioritise, work under pressure, work flexibly, work on own initiative and meet deadlines
- Good computer skills (including Word, Excel, internet & Outlook as a minimum)
- Knowledge of relevant DWP benefits information and the ability to apply that knowledge
- Ability to complete paperwork and files to a high degree of accuracy including monitoring and data entry
- Commitment to Crisis’s purpose and values including equality and social inclusion
Desirable
- Understanding of homeless people and the causes and impacts of homelessness
