Team Around the Family (TAF)champions

There are a number of professionals that have been identified as TAF champions across agencies within Cheshire West and Chester. This is because it has been identified that they have skills, experience and expertise in taking the lead role for Team Around the Family (TAF) assessments and plans and supporting families within the TAF process.
TAF champions take a lead role in their area to offer advice, guidance and support to other practitioners drawing on their own experience and expertise. TAF champions should take a log of any queries or advice given and if similar queries and concerns are becoming apparent for a number of professionals, TAF champions are able to pass this information on to the TAF adviser who can look at processes and procedures to see if they need to be amended.

TAF champions may also be asked by professionals that have less experience in taking the lead on a TAF to mentor them through the assessment and initial planning stage.

Cluster groups are held quarterly and are open to all professionals involved with TAF. Some of the TAF champions facilitate these sessions which are a forum to allow the sharing of good practice, practice issues and queries, any ongoing concerns and paperwork. This also allows the TAF adviser to feed in to practitioners and managers about the progress of the TAF and resolve any process issues. TAF champions are expected to promote these sessions and attend so they can offer support. Your TAF cluster group contacts are listed below. TAF champions will at times be asked to take part in multi-agency case file audits in order to look at the quality assurance of the TAF. This will ensure that TAF assessments and action plans are robust, family centred, SMART, outcome focused and that the voice of the child can be heard throughout. This enables Cheshire West and Chester to evaluate any recurrent themes or gaps and provide training in line with areas in need of improvement.

TAF champions may also be asked to support the TAF adviser with facilitation of TAF related training
