The Department of English Studies has two openings for contract lecturers to teach English and other subjects relevant to the department curriculum starting in April 2011.

Selection process: Several applicants will be invited to interviews on January 8, 2011.

Some financial assistance is available for interviewees coming from abroad.

Position: Contract lecturer (Shokutaku Koshi)

Qualifications:

Relevant MA or above, plus special competence in language teaching.

Native English speaker or equivalent

Working proficiency in Japanese preferred

Duties: Teaching: about eight 90-minute classes a week spread over four days teaching in both the Department of English Studies and the Center for the Teaching of Foreign Languages in General Education

Other duties: committees, orientation camp, PTA, and other duties required by the department

Semesters: From April to late July and from October to early February with a Christmas-New Year break.

Office: Office furnished with a desk, a chair, a telephone, and a network plug but no computer.

Conditions: Annual contract, renewable twice up to three years, with a possible extension of two more years, depending on the results of interim evaluations

Salary: Depends on data in your resume, between 300,000 and 500,000 yen a month with bonuses twice a year.

Benefits: There are allowances to help move house, to help cover the rent and to help dependent family members. Research fund.
