FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL & DEPARTMENT
Langley School is situated in 100 acres of parkland ten miles south of Norwich. Our current student roll is 557, of which 80 are boarders, 120+ in the Sixth form.
Business Studies is typically taught in sets of approximately 10-18 students at both GCSE and A Level. The department also offers Accounting and Economics at A Level. There are currently four Business Studies teachers in the department. The curriculum plan includes a vision for an ‘enterprise zone’ to be developed within the school and it is expected that the candidate would have a strong role to play in this development.
This non-selective school caters for a broad range of academic abilities and the Business Studies department has been remarkably successful in securing 100% pass rate at AS/A level in recent years, with over 80% of students attaining a grade B or better at A2 in 2016.
All classrooms in the school are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards that use Promethean Active Inspire Software, with the teacher’s PC connected to the School’s network and the internet. Langley is a well-resourced school with several suites of student PCs that can be booked for individual classes.
If you wish to discuss the post further with the current Head of Department, Paul Clark, then please feel free to contact him via email at
The School also offers a daily programme of sports and activities to which all staff are expected to contribute, according to their interests and expertise. Enterprise activities would be welcome as an extension to those gifted in this respect, but any other appropriate and relevant extra-curricular interests are embraced. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus an additional payment above CPS which the school currently enjoys.
If you feel you would make a significant contribution to this growing, dynamic department, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Mr D Findlay, Headmaster February 2017
