The Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) promotes safe and healthy relationships by supporting service providers, facilitating strategic prevention efforts, and creating opportunities for freedom from domestic violence. This year, we are engaging in our first ever Grassroots Micro-Grant Project. This Project is possible with support from the Ms.Foundation for Women, which believes in a vision of a just and safe world where power and possibility are not limited by gender, race, class, sexual orientation, disability or age. It is our hope that by working together on this Project we can positively affect changes in our communities and get closer to a day without domestic violence.

The TCFV Grassroots Micro-Grant Project’s purpose is to encourage new strategies for engaging traditionally marginalized community members in creating safety, building accountability, and ending domestic violence. Our commitment is to make sure these community members gain and sustain efforts focused on meaningful social change as they define it, while also ensuring they have access to the available support, material resources, and funds.

A Review Committee will be focusing on the following guidelines when considering the proposals:

  • Commitment to working with traditionally marginalized communities
  • Focus on grassroots approaches to domestic violence
  • Commitment to social change through community wide efforts that are led by the people most affected
  • Dedication to work that has a deep, lasting effect within individuals and their community
