Taxonomist Assignment
You have just been hired by a very prestigious company as their lead Taxonomist. Your job will be to classify any new organisms that scientists discover around the world. Your boss wants to ensure that you are VERY familiar with each of the Six Kingdoms, therefore she has assigned you to an intensive training program. You will have 4 days to complete this training (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). On Tuesday, September 21st, you must hand in one folder with all of your training materials to your boss. You will be scored on a scale of 1-100 on your work. Your boss will give you a BIG bonus check if you score 90% or higher in your training program.

Portrait of a Fungus
You have been hired to create a picture of a fungus for the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Be sure to make your picture colorful and label the following parts of the fungi: hyphae, fruiting bodies and spores. (Pages 236-238) Put your picture in a frame or make a frame out of construction paper.

Select one of the pathogenic (makes you sick) bacteria. Create a “Wanted” poster for the bacteria. Create a one page brochure to attract vacationers to one of the areas where Archeabacteria live. Describe three or four characteristics of the area. Include things to see or do while on vacation in this area. Include special activities to do while visiting. Provide prices for lodging, transportation and tours. Create a restaurant menu that includes dishes from each Phylum in the Animal Kingdom. Include the name of the dish, a description of the dish and price for each item on the menu. Each phylum should be a different section on your menu. Include at least 2 dishes for each phylum. For the Chordata phylum, include at least 1 dish for each of the different Classes (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals). / Plant Photo Album

You are trying to employ one of the helpful bacteria for your business. Create a “Help Wanted” advertisement to attract a bacteria to fill the position. Be sure to describe your company, the job position for the bacteria and annual salary. Include a labeled picture of a bacterial cell. Use pages 222-225 for ideas. / Home For Sale
Create a classified advertisement to sell a home in one of the areas where Archeabacteria live. Describe three or four characteristics of the environment.
