Tata Consultancy Services to conduct Recruitment Drives for youth of J&K, under Project Udaan

August23, 2014;Jammu & Kashmir: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS),one of the India’s leading information technology (IT) companies, is organising training and recruitment drives for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar, under ‘Project Udaan’. Udaan is a special industry that is funded by Ministry of Home Affairs and run by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO, National Skill DevelopmentCorporation, has encouraged more and more students to come and avail this opportunity and aim at securing employment and employability under project Udaan. He said, “TCS has trained more than 300 youth from J&K and have offered them employment so far. This is NSDC’s joint effort with TCS again to try and amalgamate the youth of J&K with corporate India, as much as possible. We have had more than 5000 youth from J&K who have already enrolled into the programme so far and we aim to scale up this number substantially over the next one year.”

The recruitment drive will happen between Aug 25-28, 2014 (Monday to Thursday) and the registration starts at 9:30 A.M.Below are the details of the recruitment drives that will take place over four days -

Eligibility: Only graduates who have completed their graduation (B.Com/ B.B.A/ B.B.M/ BA / BMS / B. Pharm / B.Sc.)in 2014 and 2013 are eligible. Students who have done their MSc/MCA/MBA/BE/B.Tech/BCA/ M.Com / MA / BSc Statistics / Computer Science / IT / ISM and BA Economics are not eligible.

The programmes will begin with a presentation, which will be followed by an aptitude test and then face–to–face interviews.

About Project Udaan:

Under a Special Industry Initiative, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Home Affairs has been mandated to work with the corporate sector in bringing about a positive change in the employment and skills space of Jammu and Kashmir. The special industry initiative, known as “Udaan”, targets the youth of J&K, graduates, postgraduates and 3 years engineering diploma holders, who are seeking global and local opportunities. Udaan aims to provide skills to 40,000 youth over a period of 5 years in high growth sectors.

Udaan has two objectives:

  • To provide exposure to the graduates and post graduates of Jammu and Kashmir to the best of corporate India
  • To provide corporate India with exposure to the rich talent pool available in the state
