Task explanation for the Advertiser

Campaign folder- After you have received the folder you must decorate it. This entails: putting the party symbol and party name on it and writing the party’s main slogan on the folder. Also, all of the people’s names and tasks should be written in the tab area of the folder. The folder must be colorful and neat.

Commercials- Your job is to make these scripts into fully edited and interesting commercials. If you do not have access to an editing machine, then the commercial will need to be practiced in advance prior to filming it. Also, the commercial should have music, props etc… to make it more appealing to the audience. A good commercial is one that the viewer will remember so your job is to be creative. You may show no more than one commercial per week so do not wait to do this task. You need to hand in a typed explanation answering the advertiser summary questions you will air. Make sure you answer the specific questions contained in the packet, this needs to be typed.. Make sure you give one copy to the teacher one week prior to the commercial being aired. In other words, what is the main idea and goal or aim of the commercial? For example; are you trying to convince your audience that your candidate is personable, are you trying to show that another candidate view’s are flawed or that another candidate is unsure of themselves, are you trying to inspire people to follow or believe in your candidate or issue? If you are mudslinging another candidate are you trying to get a response from the group that you are mudslinging or are you just trying to hurt that candidate’s ranking? Lastly, include people’s names and what they will actually say in the commercial. The candidate needs to be physically included in each commercial. This means they need to be in each commercial by at least saying, “I am (name) and I approve this message”. A different clip for each commercial needs to be used in each of the four commercials.

Posters- The posters are different than regular campaign posters. Your posters must address a topic or topics, must have your party name and symbol on it, must contain a slogan on the topic(s), and have to be neat and creative. The slogan you put on the poster is not the same slogan that your party has selected to be the main party slogan. Other forms of advertisements are permissible, however be sure to ask the teacher if you are not sure about a certain form of advertising. Since space is limited in the classroom, it is a first come first serve policy for hanging them up. It would be wise to get these done earlier rather than waiting. Also, you can only hang one poster a week otherwise you will lose points.

Web Page- In order for this task to be completed, the speechwriter and Advertiser must work together. The web page must include the party symbol and name of the party and candidate. There should be a section to get people to donate money and/or support your candidate. Your page must include a picture of the candidate also. If possible, include a video or videos of your candidate. A good way to get people to donate to your party is by having products available for people to buy (bumper stickers, shirts, hats etc…) Use of color, fonts, pictures, images etc… is necessary for this task to be completed. Go to freewebs.com to create your website. This allows you to make a web page with links. THIS NEEDS TO BE READY TO BE PRESENTED IN THE SECOND WEEK OF CAMPAIGNING.
