POSTERS–Imagined Sequel

COMMERCIAL ARTS TASK SHEET

TASK:: Create a poster for an imagined sequel to your favorite film…!

PRE-PRODUCTION:

Find a reproduction of your favorite films actual movie poster. Use the internet in class and make sure the resolution you look for is above 400x400

PRODUCTION:: 100 Points for all completed Production Work

Resolution is 300 dpi.

Use your skills to carefully place yourself into the poster.

Alter the credits to include your name as well. Match your fonts.

Once done I will look over your work and you may be prompted to make changes

POST - PRODUCTION::50 Points for all completed Post-Production Work

Complete and print the final: Set up the page as LEGAL SIZE. Make sure you print on the large paper.

Collect all production work, paper clip together and place it in my "In Box"

YOU WILL NEED TO # 1:

Find images for your poster.

  1. Determine what film you would like to work on. Think about all of your favorite films and choose one you feel you could handle reworking.
  2. Do you own this movie already? If so, you can use the video or DVD box as reference.
  3. If you don’t own this film, look for the actual movie poster on the internet. Try to find as many images as possible that you could use since you will be recreating the poster.
  4. Once you have your images, see me to O.K. the choice.

YOU WILL NEED TO # 2:

Create five thumbnail sketch ideas of your poster
  1. Once you’ve picked your film, start to brainstorm on what you would like to change about the existing poster.
  2. Create a minimum of five thumbnail sketches.
  3. Make sure they’re numbered and show lights and darks
  4. Once you have your thumbnails finished, see me to discuss your ideas.

YOU WILL NEED TO # 3:

Create a color layout of your poster idea in Photoshop
  1. 8 ½” x 14”. 300 dpi
  2. Piece together your poster.
  3. Once ready, make it available for a critique with Mr. Juul

YOU WILL NEED TO # 4:

Create a Final of your poster idea
  1. If you are using Photoshop, you should make an 8 ½” x 14” canvas.
  2. Set up your page to print on Legal size paper.

YOU WILL NEED TO # 5:

Complete everything by: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26th.
  1. Gather your thumbnails, rough, layout and final. Make sure your name is on all of them
  2. Paperclip them together and turn them all in at the same time.
