Ketera Software India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore (Lead Software Engineer, Oct 2004 – Present)

Ketera is a leading provider of on-demand spend-management and procurement solutions. I am involved in the development of spend analysis solution. My current responsibilities involve:

  1. Data processing and report generation using Databeacon and MicroStrategy data warehousing tools. Data processing involves data cleansing, supplier de-duplication, supplier flagging, supplier classification etc. This involves shell scripting, awk, sql etc. for data processing and creating reports in Databeacon and MicroStrategy.
  2. Development of web application which serves as an interface to clients using spend management solution.
  3. Migrated application from custom framework to struts framework.
  4. Data processing was initially done via multithreaded architecture. Modified the architecture to use MDBs to asynchronously handle data batches instead of spawning threads within the web container.

Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad(Applications Engineer, Jan 2004 – Oct 2004)

Member of an iPayment team within Oracle Financialsproduct family and responsibility involved development of Oracle Payments product for the 11iX release. This involved use of Core Java and PL/SQL. In addition, it involved analyzing payment and remittance formats (ACH, EFT, EDI etc.) for various banks and preparing rtf templates to be fed to XML Publisher. This stint helped me gain functional knowledge that I could effectively utilize at Ketera spend management and procurement.

Technology: J2EE, WebSphere, Oracle

Role: Developer

Team Size: 50 (peak count)

Client:Nomadsoft, UK

Duration: June 2002 – December 2002

As a Developer in a project for a card payments solution for the banking industry, I was involved in an effort to migrate an existing application from Accell to J2EE framework, thus making it web-enabled. As a part of this effort, I underwent various stages of the SDLC. In the Design/Analysis phase I was involved in reading the original Accell (v2.5) code and understanding the business logic and then preparing Detailed Screen Design (DSD) document for the developers. So that developers can directly code in J2EE and they don’t need to understand the Accell code. Apart from developing the DSDs, I was also involved in writing the use cases and UTCs, which were deliverables to the client. Out of the 13 modules, I was involved in preparing UML diagrams for 4 modules. In the Development phase, I was involved in development of complete functionality screens under struts 1.0 framework. In the Testing phase, I tested the screens by making use of UTCs (Unit Test Cases) and ATCs (Acceptance Test Cases). In the Support phase, as a part of support team I was involved in fixing bugs including both kinds of bugs: bugs raised by client and bugs found by Covansys testing team during testing phase. This project received the “Covansys Best Practice Project” Award.
