Tantramar Regional High School

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Congratulations on your child reaching this point in his or her high school career! At the forefront of our thoughts is graduation and we are working diligently to ensure that your child’s graduation is memorable. The following information in this letter pertains to information surrounding your son or daughter’s graduation year.

GRAD FEE

The expenses of graduation can be significant and although we do everything we can to keep these costs as low as possible, there are some expenses that cannot be eliminated. To cover these expenses each graduate is asked to pay a $100.00 fee which can be paid in two separate increments. The first installment is due by November 14, 2017 and the second installment is due on February 1, 2018. Payments can be made through the TRHS website via School Cash Online or at the school office during lunch hour (12:15-1:00 pm). Unfortunately, cheques are NOT accepted.

The following is a breakdown of some of the major costs which are incurred for the Graduation ceremony, Prom and Safe Grad.

  • Rental of a Graduation gown
  • Purchase of a memento cap and tassel
  • Rental of Convocation Hall
  • Graduation Banquet
  • Prom and Safe Grad
  • Graduation reception for grads and family
  • Graduation activities

FUNDRAISING

The Grad Class of 2018 will be organizing a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to help cover additional costs that are not covered by the grad fee. Your son or daughter may be asked to help participate in these fundraisers throughout the year. Not only do these fundraisers raise money but they provide the graduates with an opportunity to come together and create lasting memories.

The first Grad fundraiser to take place this year is our gift card raffle. In the past this fundraiser has been extremely successful raising over five thousand dollars last year alone. Graduates are asked to donate a gift card of your choosing and give it to the office or Ms. Hardy. Grads will also be asked to sell tickets on the gift basket. There will be prizes involved with this fundraiser as well! For additional information please contact Ms. Candace Hardy at

SAFE GRAD

This year’s prom theme and Safe Grad venue will be determined by the Graduation Class of 2018 and organized by the Grad Class executive committee. More information on the Safe Grad location will be given to parents when a decision has been made. Although there is no additional charge for a graduate to attend, there is a charge for guests who will be attending prom and safe grad with a graduate.

TRHS staff and students ask that you assist us by supporting our focus by not hosting celebrations before any Grad activities (Grad banquet, Grand March, Prom, etc.) that may involve alcohol. Graduation activities are school events, so if it is believed that a graduate or guest is the under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they will be sent home. We want this evening to be memorable for all the right reasons.

SAFE GRAD (Con’t)

A Safe Grad permission slip outlining the night’s events will be sent home to parents at a later date. Please note, students who do not abide by the rules and regulations pertaining to Prom or Safe Grad will not be permitted to attend the Graduation Ceremony.

GRAD REPORT CARDS

Report cards for graduates will be given out the morning of Friday, June 22, 2018 after Safe Grad is over. For those that are not attending Safe Grad, report cards can be picked up at the school on Friday June 22, 2018 between 8:30 – 11:30 am.

GRADUATION GOWNS

Graduates will be sized for their grad gown and one will be rented for them for the Graduation ceremony. Graduates are expected to return their gown to Ms. Hardy at TRHS NO LATER than 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018. These gowns are rented and need to be returned to the company after the ceremony.

GRADUATION TICKETS

Each graduate will initially receive seven tickets (two red tickets-priority seating and five blue tickets-general seating) for the graduation ceremony. These tickets will be given to students the week of June 4 – 8 during the review week if Grad fees have been paid in full. Additional tickets for the ceremony can be requested by contacting Carole McKiel in the school office at 364-4294. These additional tickets will be given graduates the morning of the Graduation rehearsal, June 20, 2018.

GRADUATION PHOTOS and GRADUATION RINGS

Information regarding photos and rings will be given to graduates at an assembly planned for November 17, 2017.
