Tanker Trailer sandblast and re-coat Specs

Scope of Work:

PENNDOT District 12-5 has an Aluminum Tanker trailer that was previously re-fitted with a pumping and spraying system to apply salt brine solution onto roadways during winter operations. At the time of the re-fit the interior of the tanker trailer was painted with a corrosion barrier. The corrosion barrier is now peeling and flaking off inside of the trailer causing the pumps to fail and spray bars to clog. We are seek a vendor that will at their place of business, will sandblast the current coating that is failing and flaking off the interior of the trailer, prepare the interior of the trailer and re coat using a coating that is identified below. Awarded is vendor must complete this work within 60 days of receiving a fully executed PO.

Due to the nature of this project the trailer will be available for viewing @ 144 Donohoe Road, Greensburg, PA 15601 Mon-Fri 7am-3pm to give potential bidders the opportunity to inspect the trailer in question. Please call 724-439-7348 to schedule a day and time prior to bid submission deadline.

Delivery

PENNDOT District 12-5 will deliver the trailer within a two (2) hour driving radius of their base of operations located at 144 Donohoe Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. To be eligible to place a bid the Vendor must have a place of business to do all work needed within this two hour radius. Vendors are not permitted to tow the Department owned trailer on public roadways. PENNDOT District 12-5 forces will deliver the trailer to, and pick the trailer up from the awarded vendor when the work is completed.

Trailer Preparation:

Department Responsibilities:

  • PENNDOT District 12-5 will ensure the trailer has been rinsed prior to delivering the trailer to the awarded vendor.

Vendor Responsibilities:

  • Vendor shall cover and protect exterior of tanker from blasting and painting operations
  • Vendor will blast all interior surfaces of the trailer with SSPC-SP10 near White Metal Blast to provide recommended anchor profile.
  • Vendor required to perform Pit Filling as needed.
  • Vendor is to ensure the Tanks integrity is not compromised and will remain water tight after blasting.
  • Vendor will Spray apply Oakite Stainless conditioner & rinse as per manufacturers recommendations.
  • Vendor will fill all pits with Carboline 501 Pit Filler.
  • Vendor will apply Carboline Plasite 9145 primer.
  • Vendor will stripe Coat all welds and edges using Plasite 9145 TFE Finish.
  • Vendor will finish coat the entire trailer interior with Plasite 9145 TFE.
  • Vendor will be responsible for properly disposing of all process generated wastes.
  • Vendor must Contact PENNDOT District 12-5 personnel when work has been completed
