TALKUMENT QUICK INSTALL

One of the first things that needs to be done is to configure which Level2 will be used (SMDR is also a choice for integration). You can start the appropriate Level2 by right clicking on my computer and choosing “manage”. Then next to Services and Applications click the “+”. Then click on “Services”. Scrolling down will reveal several choices for the Oaisys Level2OAI service.

Right click on the one that is appropriate for your switch and set to automatic in the “Startup type” box. Then click the start icon on the toolbar up above. The service show “Started” in the status column.

Next the Talkument home page needs to be launched. Clicking the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop should do this.

Click the launch Talkument link in the middle of the page. This should launch the Talkument client. The login box will be displayed and the default admin login is “admin” with “admin” for the password.

Once logged you will be able to access the features of Talkument.

On the lower left hand side click on the “Admin” bar to reveal the admin features of the Talkument client.

Click the “+” next to server and then click the plus next to CTI to reveal the sub categories. Click on the Status item to get the screen that appears below. Click the Setup button at the to of this screen that appears. It may look slightly different depending on what integration you are using, but it should be generally the same.

After clicking the Setup button, you should be looking at a screen similar to this. In the “Host Name:” field we need to put the IP address of the phone switch (or other Oaisys computer that resides on site).

Minimize the Talkument client and get into the Control Panel. Double click the Smart Control icon hi-lighted below.

This will launch the following window. If this is a site that is recording based on digital lines coming into the phone switch the digital tap board will be configured here. Get to the “Digital Network” tab. Under Trunk settings make sure the framing is correct for the trunks that are being tapped. Under “Protocol Settings” a PRI will need to be set to ISDN. If it is a T-1 leave it at NONE. Click Apply at the bottom and then click OK.

Bring the Talkument client back up and click on Triton folder. Click the “+” next to Alarm Service and then click on Rules and Actions. Under the bottom Rule section of the window click the Add button at the bottom.

A screen similar to this should now be showing. This is where alarms for the system are configured. The system must have a least a minimum alarm setup or a window will continue to pop up indicating no alarms have been set.

Click the Add button under the Actions half of the window and the following window will open. Typically the system will be setup to send an email to a person who will be responsible for the machine if an alarm condition arises. Give the action a name (alarm in this example). Click the Email radio button for the Type. Then configure who will get the email and what will be sent in the email title and message. The buttons for “Insert Alarm Title Variable” and “Insert Alarm Message Variable” can be used at the bottom of the window to simply setup.

To configure a basic set of alarms click the check box for Critical under Handled Severity Levels. Then give the name a rule such as Critical as indicated below.

In order to limit the number of emails the admin for the Talkument may get we suggest checking the box for “limit handling of this condition to once every”. Then select 1 and minute from the drop down box. It may even be preferable to set this to once every 5 minutes.

In the actions to perform box select the action created earlier. Click OK when finished.

Next Email will need to be configured for the system. Click on the “+” next to email and then click on the Settings item. Configure the Server Host for the email server on the network. Use the appropriate post (usually 25). If a secure connection is required (this is typical) check the box and put in the username and password. If a domain name is required it should be in the Username field preceding the name. eg. “domainname\username”. Last configure the From Email Address.

The recording ports are configured next. Click on Settings under Recording Ports. Make sure the Total Ports matches what the system should have. If VOIP extensions are being tapped the NIC performing the tap should be listed in the box. Select it using the drop down menu. The recordings share should read:

D:\Recordings

Click on Port under Recording Ports and this is where the trunk numbers will be programmed. Under extension put the trunk number. Make sure the Trunk type is appropriate. If VOIP extensions are being tapped put the extension number to be tapped in the Extension field.

When the trunk numbers have been programmed click Ports under Recording Ports and the current status of the trunks can be viewed. All the trunks should indicate either IDLE or RECORD.
