Tactical Plan Update – 4/19/13

Goal IA.1: Tim Hollabaugh

Keep the website updated with current information for each semester.

  • Concerns voiced to Strategic Planning committee on 5/16/11. Website maintained by webmaster and various page authors around the district. Periodic reports are generated notifying authors of broken links and misspellings.

Goal IA-2:

Increase basic computer access for all students

  • Added wireless access points around the district available to all students

Goal IA.5: Tim Hollabaugh

Reduce delays in student access to the network.

  • Concerns voiced to Strategic Planning committee on 5/16/11. Added wireless access points around the district available to all students

Goal IA.7: Tim Hollabaugh

Improve and integrate technology (Banner, Blackboard, Email, debit card, and modern media access).

  • Concerns voiced to Strategic Planning committee on 5/16/11. Folded into Goal IA.8

Goal IA.8: Tim Hollabaugh

COS will have an integrated technology system allowing immediate access to application and registration processes, with a single log-in identification for accessing all technological services.

  • Concerns voiced to Strategic Planning committee on 5/16/11. Researched various single sign on providers and determined none met the need and architecture requirements at the district.

Attached is the report given to Strategic planning committee on 5/16/11

Subject: Status of Tactical Plans.

Initial work on tactical plans included:

  1. Each committee member is assigned goal(s) from the Strategic Plan.
  2. Committee members check to see if the assigned goals are currently part of the Technology Plan (this is available on SharePoint).
  3. Committee members write out brief ideas about the goal.
  4. Bring this information (#2, 3) to the next Technology Committee meeting.
  5. The Tech Committee will prioritize the goals.

The above work has been completed and it has become clear that some of the measurable outcomes and goals are not as well defined as we would like. Also as we reviewed the available data we found that many items were not available nor defined. In moving forward we are making the following recommendations:

Goal / Concern / Recomendation
Goal IA1 / No Baseline, Measurable Outcome unclear, PIO responsibility unclear – Discussion – the goal states that the website will be updated with current information for each semester, however the measurable outcome speaks to a 30 day window. / Further discussion regarding the plans made by the Technology Committee and the plans made in the PIO office. Both plans must be coordinated to insure that consistency is maintained.
Goal IA2 / CCSSEE 13H is the baseline data however a metric might include the number of open lab hours/workstations available. Discussion included the meaning of “Increase” in the Goal also the MO states that basic computer access is “available”. / Define the metrics to be used.
Goal IA5 / No Baseline, Measurable Outcome unclear. Several assumptions regarding the meaning of the goal include the time between submitting an application and the ability to register or equipment and network speed. The measurable outcomes refer to reducing future occurences but does not specifically refer to what the occurences are. / The technology committee believes a discussion with the plan authors regarding a “for instance” would be advantageous
Goal IA7 / No Baseline, Measurable Outcome is quite similar to Goal IA8 / Delete this activity in deference to Goal IA8
Goal IA8 / No Baseline, Discussion – This goal refers to the immediacy of access to application and registration processes which may or may not tie in to Goal IA5. / Possible measurable outcome would be creating a report of system and number of logins necessary to access those systems
Goal IIC3 / No Baseline, doesn’t fit with Technology Committee / Strategic Planning Committee review for possible reassignment to Curriculum Committee
Goal IVA7 / No Baseline, Measurable Outcomes are not clear
Goal IVC1 / No Baseline, not quite sure of the connection between the goal and the measurability
Goal IVC4 / No Baseline, unsure of the connection between the goal and the measurability / Survey?
