Welcome to the Spring and Summer semesters. We have put together the following information that will assist you in your course planning.

Students must activate their Ryerson Matrix Email Account prior to having access to RAMSS. Once your Matrix Account is created, go to our interactive web service, RAMSS at my.ryerson.ca and follow the indicated steps to register for your courses. (see Helpful Links)

DST503- Current Topics I: Rethinking Disability in Education

Course description:

This course will consider the ways in which ability and disability are constructed within educational spaces, both as a positive cultural identity and as a mechanism for exclusion and discrimination. The social order of schools and other community spaces will be examined through interdisciplinary dialogue building from students’ experiences of ability/disability in community services. The course will build on a history of the inclusion movement, intersections with critical theory, radical inclusive education, and the movement toward critical disability studies in education.

The Advisement Report shows students all the courses they have taken or presently enrolled in as well as the courses they need in order to graduate.

All Elective and Liberal Studies courses are offered through Continuing Education (CE) and should have a C in front of the course you are searching for (CINT900, CCLD332, CPPA125, CSWP900, etc…

To search for elective and liberal studies courses go to the Continuing Educationwebsite. There are three ways of searching for courses on the CE website

  1. Select Distance Education – Courses and Programs at a Distance – All Distance Courses by Title. Check the list for the course you are interested in to see when it is available.
  1. Select Courses and Programs – Course Search and fill out the boxes with the drop down menu. For example, select Area of Interest or Subject, Credit Type select Degree, Liberal Studies select Upper or Lower or All, Term select the one you want, Instruction Mode select the format you want or pick All, Location select Ryerson University and click on Search.
  1. If you know the course code (CABC123) you wantto take just type it in the search boxon the top right hand corner on the Continuing Education webpage and press enter. This will pull up the result, click on the course link and it will give you all the details- is it a degree course, cost, availability, format, etc…. which can assist you to plan your courses for the year.

It is the student’s responsibility to make sure they have the proper prerequisites, check equivalence and antirequisite courses and keep track of courses they have completed and or have remaining.

Questions re GPA should be directed to (for example, if you fail a course or take a course(s) to upgrade your GPA, etc…)

Students with Probationary Standing (CGPA of 1.00-1.66) are required to meet with their program department and sign a Probationary Contract in order to be eligible to continue their studies. Failure to meet the terms of their Probationary Contract will result in the student being Required to Withdrawfrom their program.

Students wishing to take any Language courses must complete an online placement test prior to registering. If you have already taken a Language course at Ryerson you may continue to the next level. For further information, please contact Marju Toomsalu at or Fatima DeSilva at .

Questions about Liberal Studies courses, i.e., content, requirements, pre-requisites, etc. should be directed to the appropriate Faculty of Arts department. NOTE:Department of Psychology requires students to have specific prerequisites prior to registering for any PSY courses. Please contact the Psychology Department Sarah Carmichael at 416-979-5000 x6193 for approval.

DST501 is a prerequisite for all other DST Core and Required (Group I and II) courses.

Grade of C- or lower in DST501, DST502, DST725 and DST99A/B will result in a Probationary standing. A second consecutive C- in any of these courses will result in the students being Required toWithdraw(RTW) from their program.

FEES and Financial Information:

Student who has an outstanding balance- Collections Block from previous semester will not be permitted to enroll in any course unless the hold has been cleared or lifted. Please contact Credit and Collections at or 416-979-5071.

Ryerson reserves the right to prohibit enrollment or withdraw a student who does not maintain good financial standing at the end of an academic term/year. The student is responsible for ensuring that their fees are paid on a timely basis. For further information, please visit

It is your responsibility to check RAMSS at my.ryerson.ca to verify your academic record no later than the five (5) working days prior to the commencement of classes each term. Once student is registered for a course it is the student’s responsibility to drop the course if they change their mind. Students can face financial and or academic penalties if the course is not dropped by the appropriate deadlines (check significant date’s section in the calendar).
