System-Wide Accessibility Weekly Update
For week of Sunday 10/24/10-Saturday 10/30/10
General:
· Presented MassDOT’s “How Can I Help You Today?” training to two pilot classes
· Met with Bus Training School to discuss preparation for training “blitz” at bus garages
· Attended ribbon-cutting event to celebrate opening of new elevators at Copley Station
· Began revising MBTA/SWA bus procedures to be used in next round of Bus Recertification training
· Attended Pre-Board Prep Meeting with the General Manager and the Secretary
· Attended American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009/FTA Program Review
· Participated in monthly meeting of the Access Advisory Committee to the MBTA (AACT)
· Updated list of key bus stops with new priority status on spreadsheet for Operations Department
Design and Engineering:
· The following plans were reviewed and comments submitted
o Drawings submitted by Boston Friends of Public Garden with respect to the surroundings of the proposed elevators at Park Street Station
o Signs for “friendly-environment” or energy-efficient “green” cars for Real Estate Department
· Site Inspections/Site Visits
o Riverside Station (parking issues)
o Copley Station (preliminary punch list)
o Oak Grove Station (parking and curb ramp issues)
· Meetings
o Proposal of new elevator locations for Hynes, Symphony and Wollaston Stations with consultants and Design & Construction
o Elevator construction review at Park Street Station with consultants, contractors, Operations, Safety and Design & Construction
o Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) update on Wonderland Station with consultants and Design & Construction
Customer Complaints:
· Tracked 12 complaints filed by 9 customers
- 9 Fixed Route
- 3 THE RIDE
· 3 forwarded to Office of Diversity & Civil Rights (ODCR) for investigation
Internal Access Monitoring Program:
· 12 Monitors conducted 52 trips throughout all of fixed route system (50 Bus; 1 Subway; 1 Commuter Ferry)
· Continued generating text for External Monitoring Report
· Reviewed 52 completed monitoring forms
· Scanned 84 completed monitoring forms
· Verified the content of 84 scanned monitoring forms
· Verified the Pg. 1 content of 105 scanned monitoring forms
· Forwarded 2 violations to ODCR for investigation
· Created 61 reports consisting of results from the IAM program’s Q1-Q3 2010
Reduced Fare CharlieCard Program Activity
· Issued 1224 reduced-fare CharlieCards:
· 760 Senior CharlieCards
· 434 Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCards
· 16 Blind Access CharlieCards
· 14 “THE RIDE” CharlieCards
· Reviewed 245Transportation Access Pass CharlieCard applications
· Processed 187 account deposits for customers of the MBTA Paratransit program THE RIDE
· Conducted outreach event at the Waltham Senior Center
- 54 Senior CharlieCard and 0 TAP CharlieCard customers served
