Classroom Goals

In this coursestudents will study all concepts of World Geography. Studentswill successfully pass the STAAR/EOC exam.

Classroom Rules

1. Students will be on time to class with required materials.

2. Students will follow directions the first time they are given.

3. Students will work on, complete, and turn in assignments on time.

4. When interacting with others, students will check body, tone, and voice language.

5. Students will stay on the assigned task.

The average of at least two tests per six weeks will be 50% and the other 50% will come from class assignments, quizzes, and Cooperative Learning Social Skills activities.

Grading scale:

A: 100-90

B: 89-80

C: 79-70

F: Below 70

Classroom Procedures

Entering the classroom

-As students enter the room, they will remain in the room.

-Students will remove spiral, pen/pencil,workbook, and textbook from bag.

-Students will have completed this task and be in the desk seat before the final bellrings.

-Students begin with the focus activity on the board

Tardy to class

Students are tardy when they have not completed the above procedures before the final bell rings. Thetardy policy of our high school is in effect in all classes.

Paper or pencil

Students are responsible for having both pen/pencil and paper at the beginning of class. In emergencies, studentsmay walk to my desk and get a pencil from the container.

Being unprepared will not excuse a student from assignments or expectations during class.

How to find out what the daily assignments are

Daily assignments are posted on the board.

Turning in assignments

Assignments are due at the beginning of class when the teacher will take them up. Our Social Studies

Department has a no credit for late assignments past the due date.

Returning assignments to students

Regular class assignments will be returned within 1-2 days; written essays and exams within 2-3 days.

Finding out grade status

Students may access their grade at anytime on Skyward. I will provide a report for all students atthe three weeks mark and the school will send a written report with each student at the six weeks mark.

Student responsibilities after an absence

Students will check online and with teacher as necessary. Students will have an assignment calendar tokeep current even when absent. Assignments are due upon the day returning to class.

Tests will bemade up within two days during before or after school tutorials.

It is the student’s responsibility to retrieve the work that they have missed!

Late, missing, or incomplete assignments

Late work is not accepted for credit after the due date per department policy.

Communication procedures with parents and families

I will notify parents through our E-mail system, written notes, phone calls, and/or face to face visits. Parents can contact me through the school office (817-220 -3888), E-mail (), and/or face to face to set up a conference for the student. My conference time is 7th period.

Ending class

I will end class with a review of major ideas using various activities. I will dismiss students from class not the bell.

Consequences for Classroom Rule Violations

Students will be dealt with individually as fits the situation.

Consequences for Code of Conduct Violations

I will be responsible to enforce our high school's Code of Conduct.
