Syllabus for One Year Certificate in Cosmetology

(Add-on Course)

Session 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17

Semester I

Maximum Marks: 35Time allotted: 3 hours

Theory: 26 MarksLectures to be delivered: 3 hrs per week

Internal Assessment: 9 MarksPass Marks: 35% of subject

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PAPER-SETTER

The question paper will consist of three sections A, B and C. Sections A and B will have four questions each from the Section A and B of syllabus and will carry 4 marks each. Section C will consist of 5 short answer type questions of 2 marks each which will cover the entire syllabus uniformly.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES

Candidates are required to attempt two questions each from Section A and B of the question paper and the entire section C.

THEORY

SECTION-A

  1. Yoga: Definition, aims and importance, difference between exercise and yoga.
  2. Aasanas: Sarvang, Padam, Hala, Vajar, Bhujang, Dhanur, Goumukh, their, techniques, importance and effects on body.

SECTION-B

  1. Colour: Importance, Effect and selection according to skin type.
  2. Planning of wardrobe and selection of clothes according to figure, physique, occupation and weather.

Semester II

  2. Massage and Facial: Meaning of massage, benefits and types of it, precautions, cosmetics required for facial.

  1. Manicure & Pedicure: Meaning, different types of equipment, materials and cosmetics used in Manicure & pedicure, its benefits.
  2. Henna: Types, application and precautions.

Semester II

PRACTICAL (Cosmetology)

Maximum Marks: 30Periods per week: 3 Hrs.

Time allotted: 3 hours

  1. Aasanas: Sarvang, Padam, Hala, Vajar, Bhujang, Dhanur, Goumukh.
  2. Manicure & Pedicure: Use of manicure and pedicure tools & equipments, practice of plain manicure and pedicure, practice of massage on hand, arms, legs and feet, practice of putting Henna with stick fingers for different occasions.
  3. Message: Practice of massage recognition of different skin types, dry, oily, normal & combination skin.
  4. Bleaching: preparation of materials for bleaching, preparation of bleach pack, practice of allergy test and application of bleaching pack.
  5. Hair cutting: Select design for the client according to hair texture and facial shapes (Blunt cut, U-cut) selection procedure, practice of hair cutting on dummies and live models.
