· Greek/Latin roots, List 1: It is a good idea to write flashcards for each word with an example on the back for studying.
· PPT: Literary Terms you need to know for Short Story, “The Most Dangerous Game”
· Plot, Theme, Irony, Suspense, Figurative Language, Imagery, Foreshadowing, Irony, etc.
· PPT: The Hunger Games
· Please make sure that you keep up with the Reading Guide Packet for the novel!
Wednesday, 9/4/13
· Journal: Explain the meaning “Survival of the Fittest.” Do you think that physical strength or mental strength is more important? EXPLAIN your answer. PPT for “The Most Dangerous Game”
· Begin reading “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell pg. 215. It is on CD: Disk 3 Tk: 12 & 13, then Disk 4 Tks: 1-11
· * You will NOT finish the story today. Stop reading/CD before the hunt begins. IF time allows, begin working on your Study Guide Questions for the story.
Thursday, 9/5/13
· Parts of Speech (noun, verb, pronoun, prepositions, adverbs, adjectives, conjunction, interjection) * This will be a review, since you should know these already!!
· Finish Reading “The Most Dangerous Game”.
· You may pair up to answer your study guide questions, but please be respectful and stay on task and use this time wisely to work….not socialize!
· Conclusion: Study for LatinRoots Quiz 1 TOMORROW!! Also, be prepared for Hunger Games discussion. Bring Reading Guides with you in case you don’t understand something!

· 10 minute flash vocabulary study! *you can flash card quiz each other before quiz is given.
· Latin Roots 1 Quiz
· Complete The Study Guide Questions for TMDG if you finish early.
· The Hunger Games Discussion
· Be reading over the weekend!!

· Work on Map of Ship Trap Island…….QUIETLY! *Please put caps back on markers and do NOT break colored pencils and crayons. If anyone is caught throwing crayons across room, I will call your parents!!!

· Complete Map: Remember that is must be colorful, neat, and include ALL the elements from the rubric. Including details from the text to support where you put your locations!!
