STEP 1: PUT ON REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)
/ HEAD PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Long hair entanglement risk present
Bump cap / hard hat
Specify other: / Note:
Long and loose hair (long enough to get entangled or pulled at point of operation) must be tied back.
/ FOOT PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Closed footwear
CSA green triangle rated safety footwear
Wet condition footwear
Cold condition footwear

Foot protection must be worn as per workspace and departmental protocols.
/ HAND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Gloves allowed
Gloves prohibited / Gloves required specify type:
STEP 2: INSPECT AND PREPARE EQUIPMENT AND FACILITY FOR OPERATION
Step / Tasks
2.1 / Inspect equipment and facility to ensure no obvious damage. Report any damage to a person in charge so the equipment can be taken out of service and repaired.
2.2 / Ensure there is sufficient room to perfrom the operation being attempted. Equipment, materials and workers should be positioned in a manner to minimize the risk of injury, equipment or facility damage from the operation.
2.3 / Ensure that area around heat press is clear and free from cluttery
2.4 / Ensure that the heat press is sitting on stable and sturdy table
2.5 / Ensure all power sources (electrical) are properly connected prior to energizing equipment.
2.6 / Re-check steps 2.1 to 2.5. prior to energizing equipment or applying manual force to perfrom work. If an operator has any questions or concerns, consult with a person in charge prior to moving to step 3.
STEP 3: PERFORM OPERATION

3.1 / Open the clam and turn on power
3.2 / Set the press to the desired temperature and time
3.3 / Allow the press to heat up to desired set temperature
3.4 / Place project on the heat press rubber base
3.5 / Make sureproject is lined up accoriding to user and place wax/Teflon paper over material
3.6 / Clam down heat press , make sure it is fully locked down
3.7 / When buzzer sounds, open clam and remove project – PROJECT WILL BE HOT USE HEAT RESISTANT GLOVES.
STEP 4: COMPLETE OPERATION
4.1 / Turn power
4.2 / Keep clam in thopenepostion
4.3 / Clean workspace.
4.5 / Report any suspect or unexpected incidents, equipment damagae, from operation to your person in charge
LOCKOUT PROCEDURE (CONTROL OF ENERGY)
1 / Unplug heat press from the wall outlet
2 / Apply appropriate lockout device to equipment.
3 / Alpplylocks and tags as per established lockout procedures.
