The 2012 Sustainable Business Summit is pleased to announce the return of the Sustainable Business Leadership Awards. TheSustainable Business Leadership Awardsrecognize businesses, organizations, individuals and institutions demonstrating exceptional leadership of sustainable business practices resulting in significant impact and improvement to the area of focus.A formal presentation to award winners will be made during the Awards Ceremony breakfast on Wednesday, March 28 as part of the 2012 Sustainable Business Summit.

I.Award Categories
- Public Official of the Year- This award recognizes a Tennessee elected or public official whose actions defined the highest levels of excellence in sustainability leadership in 2011. This individual established the institutional practices, policy framework and/or vision that resulted in precedent setting, sustainable business or economic development practices in Tennessee.
- CEO of the Year- This award recognizes the CEO (or equivalent) who has demonstrated exceptional leadership through significant advances to align an existing business model with sustainable practices in 2011. This CEO (or equivalent) established theinstitutional practices, policy framework and/orproducts or services that resulted in precedent setting, sustainable business practices and/or sales in Tennessee.
- Tennessee Sustainable Innovator of the Year- This award recognizes a non-CEO corporate executive, manager or small business owner, whose actions definedthe highest levels of excellencein sustainability leadership in 2011. This individual established theinstitutional practices, policy frameworkand/or product(s) or service(s) that resulted in precedent setting, sustainable business practices and/or sales in Tennessee.
- Southeast Regional Sustainable Business Innovator of the Year-This award recognizes an individual or business for the impact of its sustainable technological or design innovation.This innovation altered the comprehensive landscape of its respective marketwith a radical new sustainable product or service.This individual or business defined the highest levels of excellence in sustainability leadership in 2011.
- Sustainable Product of the Year- This award recognizes abusiness or individual for its sustainable product that established an entirely new level of excellence in sales and sustainability in 2011.
- Sustainable Service of the Year- This award recognizes abusiness or individualfor its sustainable business service that established an entirely new level of excellence in sales and sustainability in 2011.
- Community Servant Leader of the Year- This award recognizes the business or individual leader who utilized market resourcesor principles(money, media, advertising, consulting studies or physical labor or time) to advance the social improvement or welfare of a community, demographic group, or sustainable corporate culture.
- Sustainable Achiever-This award recognizes an individual, business or private organization in the state of Tennessee whose product or service is an exemplary leadership model for its continued and on-going contributions to advance people, prosperity, and planet through sustainable business practices and leadership.
- Sustainable Food Leader of the Year - This award recognizes the grower, chef, entrepreneur, organization or individual advocate whose actions have defined the highest level of excellence in advancing the sustainability of Tennessee's food system in 2011. This leader established the institutional practices, policy framework, products or services that resulted in precedent setting, sustainable business practices and/or sales in Tennessee with regard to agriculture, food processing, food distribution, food retail, or marketing, education and outreach.
- Climate / Renewable Energy Leader of the Year - This award recognizes an individual, business or private organization whose actions have defined the highest level of excellence in advancing the use of renewable energy in 2011.
II.Nomination Process
Nominations open January 18, 2012 and close March 2, 2012.Nominations are open to appropriate candidates that meet the criteria for each award and may be submitted by anyone.
Award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee made up of representatives from the sustainable small business and corporate community.

III.Eligibility
Contributions, work or effects related to the award category must have taken place in the 2011 calendar year.
Entry fee of $100/nomination must be paid in full by March 2, 2012 to be considered and mailed to the Institute for Sustainable Practice:
