PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

(AmeriCorps)

Scope: The Coordinator will work closely with and under the supervision of the Community Engagement Director in the many facets of marketing and promoting the Habitat Mission in Sussex County. This involves and is not limited to facilitating public relations within the community, media outreach, assisting with the planning and organization of events and designing materials to enhance our communications with the public.

Qualifications and Experience:

-  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

-  Work experience in marketing and public relations and graphic design

-  Experience in planning and organizing events

-  Excellent organizational skills

-  Ability to work with volunteers

-  Effective communication skills both in writing and public speaking

-  High level of energy and enthusiasm to promote Habitat’s mission

-  Ability to problem solve and multi-task

-  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop and Power Point

-  Proficiency with email and internet use

-  Graphic Design

-  Photography

Primary Responsibilities:

-  Layout, content and design bi-monthly electronic newsletter (Constant Contact)

-  Press releases and media alerts for all events

-  Manage and update graphic design for promotional materials for all Habitat Programs

-  Coordinate Bi- Annual Appeal Mailings

-  Manage Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Website Content, etc.)

-  Assist in planning and organizing events, Home Dedications, and the Annual Habitat for Humanity Weekend (Auction, Golf Event, etc.)

-  Photograph events

-  Support and work collaboratively with all Office Staff and ReStore in designing and updating their respective promotional materials

-  Photograph groups that serve on Habitat sites and committee meetings

-  Assist with writing nominations for awards for Habitat volunteers (i.e. Youth and Governor’s awards, Jefferson Award for Service, HFHI Awards for signature programs (Women Build, Veteran Build, etc)

-  Working with suppliers for best quality and price of the following: outreach premiums (t shirts, coffee mugs, etc) and supplies for brochures, printers, other outreach

-  Provide support to Habitat and AmeriCorps outreach events (not to include fundraising)

-  Prepare video/Powerpoint presentations for Habitat Reporting and recruiting, AmeriCorps reporting and recruiting, Collegiate Challenge recruitment

AmeriCorps Responsibilities:

  1. Attend State and Delaware Habitat for Humanity Training and Orientation programs. Training and events include but are not limited to the events on the Delaware National Service Event an Training Calendar
  2. Attend training and events provided by the Delaware Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps program.
  3. Prepare and provide monthly reports to the Programs Manager on AmeriCorps service.
