Welcome to the beginning of a new school year and the Pirate Team. I look forward to working with each of you this year.
TEXT: HOLT SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY: Level Blue, FCAT workbook, and a variety of other print and electronic resources.
SUPPLIES:
Extra credit will be awarded to all who have all supplies checked in by day 4.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be prepared for class daily: supplies, assignments, planner, and pencil. Only pencils may be used in science.
2. Be on time: in your assigned seat, supplies ready, and review the plan of the day.
3. Be respectful of yourself and others: students, teachers, staff of FMS
4. Do your best to succeed: complete all assignments, take advantage of extra credit, submitting work on time, be in class, and attend help sessions.
5. Follow school rules: Code of Conduct, Dress Code, ID / backpack policy, Pirate Team Honor Code
6. NO eating, drinking, or gum in class.
GRADING POLICY:
Tests and Quizzes: 40% Daily/Homework: 30% Projects/Activities: 30%
HELPFUL / EXTRA INFORMATION:
· Help sessions are regularly scheduled on Tuesday mornings from 9:20 – 9:40. If this is not doable, please see me to schedule a more convenient time.
· Each student will receive a weekly progress report each Friday except the weeks we have “school-wide” progress reports. It is the student’s responsibility to share these reports with parents. After the first quarter when OnCourse, our online gradebook, becomes accessible to parents via the Internet weekly print-outs will be on a request basis only.
· Class assignments and information will be available through http://new.schoolnotes.com.
· All advanced students are required to complete a science project. More information will be forth coming.
· Students will take the Science FCAT this year.
· Students will take an end of course exam that is calculated as ½ of the final exam grade.
