SUPERVISED ACCESS PROGRAM WORKER

POSITION TITLE:Worker (SAP)

STREAM:Clinical Counselling Services

REPORTING TO:Manager, Clinical Counselling Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Social Services Worker or Child and Youth Worker or equivalent training, plus two years experience working with separated and divorced families.
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills are required.
  • Understanding and abilities in working with children and families coping with separation and divorce, family violence, and sexual abuse.
  • Knowledge of pertinent legislation, such as The Child and Family Services Act, The Education Act, and the Young Offenders Act.
  • High level of maturity and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and data MIS.
  • Possession of a current First Aid Certificate and CPR is required.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License (minimum of Class G2 if over the age of 19, and Class G license if 19 and under), ability to travel, and use of a personal vehicle.
  • Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for complete familiarity with the policies and procedures of the program and ensuring adherence to the same.
  1. Observe and document supervised access visits and exchanges in accordance with the policies and procedures of the program.
  1. Responsible for ensuring the safety of the site for clients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the SAP program.
  1. Ensure the timely and consistent collection of user fees.

  1. Observe and document supervised access visits and exchanges in accordance with the policies and procedures of the program, and intervene as required.
  1. Provide individual, family and group services where applicable.
  1. Ensure that program supplies are available and appropriate.
  1. Responsible to attend all staff meetings.
  1. Provide input into the development of proposals for service growth and delivery.
  1. Follow the principles of matrix management in communicating clinical issues/concerns relating to other AFS service streams to the appropriate AFS Managers.
  1. Take initiative to develop a personal professional development plan.
  1. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator (SAP) and/or the Manager, Clinical Counselling Services.
