Super Spelling Homework- #1

You will need to choose at least three spelling activities from the boxes below. Color the box once you complete an activity. Bring this page, signed by a parent or guardian, back to school on Thursday. Enjoy choosing your activities and learning in a new and exciting way!

Write your words 3 times each. First in pencil, then in marker, and finally in crayon. / Write a sentence using the letters in your spelling words.
Ex: brook- Bobby ran over old kites. / Word Connections:
Connect as many words together as you can to look like a crossword puzzle.
Write each word. Highlight the letters that make the sound of the week. / Number the letters a-z (a=1, b=2…z=26). Add up the value of each word.
Ex: z(26) + o(15) + o(15)= zoo(56) / Write a TV commercial using all of your spelling words.
Write each word. Color the short vowels yellow, the long vowels blue, and the consonant blends green. / Make a word search with your spelling words. Circle or highlight the words.A great site to help: / Write a detailed sentence for each spelling word.
In a dark room use a flashlight to write your words in the air. / Have an adult scramble your spelling words for you to unscramble. / Cut letters out of a newspaper or magazine and glue them on a piece of paper to spell your words.
Choo-choo words:
Write the entire list of spelling words end to end as one long word. Use a different color for each word. / Back Writing:
Write your words with your finger on an adult’s back. See if they can guess the word, then have them write the words on your back. / Cut a picture from a magazine. Use all of your spelling words to write a story about the picture.
Write each spelling word and a word that rhymes with each. / Use your sign language alphabet to practice spelling your words. / Create an action or cheer as you spell each word. Ex: clap, jumping jacks, swim, hopscotch, etc.
