PRACTICE OF THE WEEK – Reflect of this writing by Wendell Berry and pray it forward in your daily living this week and beyond. Ask what practices does this reading challenge you to make in your walk as a follower of the resurrect Jesus. PRACTICE RESURRECTION - So, friends, every day do something that won't compute. Love the Lord. Love the world. Work for nothing. Take all that you have and be poor. Love someone who does not deserve it. ...Praise ignorance, for what man has not encountered he has not destroyed. Ask the questions that have not answers. Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias. ...Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts. ...Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Practice resurrection. Wendell Berry, Collected Poems:1957-1982 (North Point Press)
v CONDOLENCES…Condolences to the family of Joyce McCarty on her passing.
v CONGRATULATIONS…Congratulations to Matt and Cathy Struecker on the birth of their new daughter, Scout.
v FUMC AT HELPING HANDS…April is FUMC’s month to help at Helping Hands Food Pantry. On April 11th and April 25th volunteers need to be at Helping Hands to help unload the truck and sack groceries.
v PRESCHOOL SPRING FUNDRAISER…Montgomery Street Preschool is again selling Rada Cutlery this year. Rada is an Iowa company that makes high quality cutlery for reasonable price. All products are made in the USA. Catalogs are available in the church office or see any MSPS student to place an order. All orders are due by Friday, April 8. If you have any questions contact Katie at 842-2193. Thanks for supporting MSPS!
v FUNDRAISER BRUNCH FOR BEN REICHERT…On Sunday, April 10th immediately following church, a fundraising brunch will be held downstairs in WFH to raise money for Ben Reichert’s mission trip to Zimbabwe.
v KNOXVILLE COMMUNITY CHORUS APRIL 9TH… The Knoxville Community Chorus spring concert will take place at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m.
v A MATTER OF BALANCE…Many older adults experience a fear of falling. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. A Matter of Balance includes eight two-hour sessions for a small group led byDawn Allspach-Kline & Matthew Brown, trained facilitators. During the class, participants learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risk at home, exercise to increase strength and balance. For more information please call 641-842-6070. Classes start April 5th 2-4 p.m. at the Knoxville Senior Center.
