SUMMONS TO ARTISTS
1º ANIMALIFE FOUNDATION EX – LIBRIS SALON

THEME: DOGS
Dogs are believed to have accompanied us for 40,000 years, when at glacial times human beings and wolves used to live together in the same habitat. These animals used to eat the food remains that men left after hunting and, due to their domestication throughout the years, they evolved physically and psychologically, becoming pets as we know them at present.
It is then this dependance and liaison that joins dogs to human beings (and their undefence) what motivates and justifies the work of the ANIMALIFE FOUNDATION , that is, among other things, the wholesome protection of animal life,the realization of different activities tending to promote the correct keeping of pets and domestic animals, the implementation of and/or collaboration with massive campaigns and free sterilization as a method to control animal overpopulation in towns, avoiding the spread of errant animals in the streets, offering veterinary aid to abandoned pets or to the ones belonging to owners without financial resources.
Being aware of the deep and invisible affective bond that connects dogs with their owners (or fellowpartners , or as you want to call them), ANIMALIFE calls on to artists who feel sympathy for our proposal and who feel this love for and interest in pets, to make ex–libris for the Animalife Foundation, with images of dogs, of the dog/s which are their pets, or of the vision that they have of the relation to these beloved animals.
These are the bases for the 1º ANIMALIFE FOUNDATION EX – LIBRIS SALON.
Topic development
· Each artist will be able to participate with a maximun number of 3 works, of which he must send 2 copies of each, signed, unframed and uncovered. At the back of each of these Works, the following data must be writen in pencil: realization year, technique used, artist’s full name, address, and e-mail address.
· Techniques of traditional graphics including serigraphy and computer design will be admitted. Drawings or photocopies will not be accepted.
· The ex–libris’ format will not be bigger than 13 x 13 cms. And the paper measure will not exceed 20 x 15 cms.
· The image related to the topic must be accompanied by the text “Ex Libris Fundación Vidanimal”.
· The works will not be returned and will become part of the foundation’s possessions. They will be used to encourage awareness and to promote the foundation’s work in future exhibitions, publications and other kinds of presentations.
· The deadline for the works to be admitted will be February 28, 2009. The postal date will be considered.

· The exhibition will take place at the Art Museum in Santa Rosa, La Pampa , Argentina on a date to be designated. The works will also be shown in the foundation web page.

· Participation implies the acceptance of the bases and conditions in these present regulations.
