Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Awards

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is pleased to announce that it has some limited funds to support projects in which faculty and undergraduate students work together on research or other scholarly projects during summer 2011.

Two forms of support are available to students:

Project Grants are available for up to $500 for supplies, equipment, services and travel directly related to activities for conducting the project.

Stipends of $500 per week are available for undergraduate students who will be doing research full-time for 4-10 weeks during summer 2011. Students who receive the stipends can enroll in no more than one course and cannot have other employment while receiving the stipend.

Student Eligibility: The award is open to any undergraduate student with a declared major in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Submission of Applications: Application forms are available from the Dean's office, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Sequoia Hall, room 334. Students should submit completed applications to the Dean's Office no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, March 7, 2011. Applications will be reviewed competitively and prioritized relative to demonstrated learning value in the project and justification of the requested budget items. There may not be sufficient funds to honor all requests. Awards are expected to be announced three weeks after the receipt of all completed applications.
