ICC / Illinois Commerce Commission

Summer Internships Available

The Office of the Chairman and Commissioners is seeking undergraduate and graduate students for summer internships in the Illinois Commerce Commission’s Chicago Office, which is located in Cook County at 160 North LaSalle Street, Ste. C-800.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Applicants should be committed to excellence, think creatively, and have demonstrated academic achievement in the areas of accounting, economics, engineering, finance, or law. ICC interns work alongside of and are mentored by our talented, seasoned, and highly-trained staff, most of whom hold an advanced degree or professional license. From the moment an intern walks in the door, he or she is treated as an important member of the team.

Interns’ work responsibilities enhance their education by providing meaningful projects with some guidance and direction. Our goal is to further a student’s education with real-world, hands-on projects that complement course work completed and to provide exposure to different parts of the work environment at an institution within the industry.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED

Each intern will report directly to a Commissioner who is appointed by the Governor and work alongside of other members of the ICC’s exceptional staff. Applicants should be: a law student; an upper classman who has declared a major in economics, finance or engineering; or a graduate student in a relevant field. In addition, prospective interns should have superior written and oral English communication skills; extensive knowledge of the personal computer and related software programs and applications; and the ability to apply human relations skills in interaction with ICC staff, representatives of government and private industry. Hourly wager of $14 to $16 are anticipated.

To apply, submit a cover letter, resume, and transcripts (unofficial is fine) to Cheryl Barrett at by May 12, 2017.
