The Nitty Gritty

Thank You for Registering for the Summer Guitar Camp Program. We welcome everyone that is attending. Sorry about the lengthy Registration Form, fill in what you can, if it doesn’t apply leave it blank or write “na.” Much of it is simply to become acquainted with the camper’s interests and likes before arrival to guitar camp. This is our pre-camp overture to a to get a heads-up of what to prepare in advance to give campers an optimum experience and interest during the camp.

The Guitar Camps will be hosted at Rideau Acres Campground, Kingston, Ontario. Address: 1014 Cunningham Road, 1 mile North of the 401 off Hwy #15. There is a gate 400m down Cunningham Road at the entrance to the campground. You will be unable to go through the gate without visiting the office first. As you enter the campground, keep to the right of the entrance sign (on a huge rock) and go down into the campground registration office Parking Lot.You can drop off the Guitar Camper in the lot and they can walk down to the Banquet Hall building.Or you can park in the lot and walk in with your awesome child.

A Summer Guitar Camp staff member will be on site and assist you, look for the person with a sign or T-Shirt thats says “Summer Guitar Camp.” This person will help you with directions and also provide you witha Summer Guitar Camp – Rideau

Acres Parking Lot Pass. Please always display this in the front window dashboard of your car while parked in the parking lot.

If you need entrance to the park with your vehicle to drop something off, the Summer Guitar Camp staff person will get the gate open for you so you can drive through and go down.

This staff person will be not be there if you arrive late. You will have to go into the office if you need to get through the gate. Simply tell them you are here for the Guitar Camp and they will let you in hassle free and no charge.

The Summer Guitar Camp will be in the large brown building on your left, (pool attached) this is the Banquet Hall. Just before the banquet hall building on your left is a road that will take you to the parking lot behind the building, this is where you can park in the event you need to drive in. There are 2 entrances to the banquet hall, one on the road side, (walk up the stairs once inside, first door on left) and one on the 2nd level off the wooden deck that faces the duck pond. Washrooms are located in the bottom of the Banquet Hall.

Campers will need to bring their own lunch and snacks during the day. The Guitar camp will provide bottled water free for the campers. There is a store on the campground where campers can purchase the usual variety of junk food, ice cream, chocolate bars, pop, chips, etc.

Electronic devices are welcome and to be used in conjunction with the guitar camp utilizing sound recording apps, video recording apps, tuning apps, or whatever. These are all good things. Campers are free to record any part of the day that will help foster their learning experience. These devices are not to be used for social media during teaching sessions. Campers will have free time during the day to do that if they feel that’s a necessary part of their life. Of course text messages from parents are allowed at anytime. Parents and

guardians are important. If the camper does not have a cell phone and parents need to connect with their aspiring guitarist, simply text John Russell’s cell phone,
