The above dates include two weeks spent in the Otesha office in London.

Please confirm your availability to bring a trailer back to the office at the end of tour and help with a bit of sorting out on the Monday after tour ends (30th July or 24th September).

If your chosen tour were full, would you be available to go on the other one?
Cycling ability

I am confident in my ability to cycle on average 40 miles on cycling days (or in my ability to train to be ready to do this) and plan to come with a reliable bike.

PART THREE: DESCRIPTIVE DETAILS ______

This section should be around four to five A4 pages. Please be as brief as you can while still giving us all the essential info that will let us know what a great contribution you will make to the tour! Be sure to clearly answer each of the following questions. This section is a good place for you to reflect whether the cycle tours and you are right for each other.

1. How did you hear about The Otesha Project UK (list any previous involvement). Why do you want to join an Otesha tour? Why do you want to be a Tour Liaison?

2. Explain your interestin educational outreach(using theatre or other forms of presenting to share information about an issue), include how this passion has been used in the past and how you will apply it as a cycle tour member.

3. What are your experiences with and/or interests in working with young people? (Please specify age ranges: younger children, older children, teenagers.)

4. The tour will be an intense and diverse team living situation: 15-18 people living, cooking, working, and playing together, 24/7, for 6 weeks! What characteristics or experiences do you have that will make you a cooperating, conflict-handling, team-playing, joy to be around?

5. Although Tour Liaisons have certain responsibilities (as explained in the Tour Liaison Internship Role Description), our cycle tour teams are non-hierarchical, and operate by consensus, taking decisions as a team. Bearing this in mind, what do you think it takes to be a good Tour Liaison?

6. a)Describe your skills/experience in the following areas. We’d like to know your experience and any related certificates or qualifications you hold if applicable.

SKILLS / Comments
Bike maintenance
Bike touring
First aid – if you don’t already hold a first aid certificate would you be willing to go on a course?
Cooking for large groups
Workshop facilitation
Consensus decision making
Public Speaking
Theatrical performing
Group living
Knowledge of social justice and environmental issues
Anti-oppression/equality

b) Please tell us about any other useful skills we haven’t mentioned and which you could bring to the team.

7. We’re looking to have a diversity of perspectives and life experiences within each team. What unique experiences or perspectives do you bring?

8. Being an Otesha cycle tour member is a give-and-take experience; you contribute to the success of the tour, but you also take away the skills and experiences you gain, and use them in the future to keep creating change.

a)What skills and learning experiences are you most excited about gaining from an Otesha tour?

b)Do you foresee being involved in any kind of work or volunteer projects in the future(post-Otesha) where these skills would be useful?

Thanks for your application. We will process your info within a week – at which point we will be in touch with you to discuss where to go from here.

May the wheels of change continue to spin!
