Summative Fishbowl Discussion Prep:

Chasing Lincoln’s Killer Argumentative Literary Response

Directions: To prepare for your summative argumentative fishbowl discussion about the consequences determined by the government for the four hung conspirators, complete this discussion prep guide to establish claims, evidence, warrants, counterclaims, and rebuttals for each of the characters. For each of the conspirators, establish a claim; did the conspirator deserve their punishment? Then, cite Chasing Lincoln’s Killer for evidence. Then, use prior knowledge from social studies class or your own information to help you form your warrants for each claim. After establishing evidence and warrants, complete the counterclaim (the opposite of your claim). After that, establish a rebuttal using DIFFERENT evidence or warrants you have not yet discussed for that claim. You will write down text reference page numbers for evidence and rebuttals to reference during the discussion.
