This event was attended by OBGYN and Fetal Medicine practitioners from – both government and private sectors, a large number of postgraduate students, colleagues from Pathology, Anatomy and Clinical Genetics, as well as by 19 Nurses working on Maternity wards of various hospitals. Many delegates had travelled from for away cities and states including Bihar, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Haryana and others.

All delegates were extremely happy with the manner in which Prof Arulkumaran simplified the complex pathophysiology of fetal hypoxia and interpretation of CTG. His lectures on Still Birth and PPH provided the most comprehensive coverage from basics to the latest concepts. The ‘hands-on’ drill on PPH management at MAMC was also attended by a large number of delegates who found it very helpful to clear their all doubts.

Apart from the outstanding scientific contents, the delegates were equally impressed and felt greatly inspired by the dedicated and passionate teaching byProf Arulkumaran who despite giving lectures continuously for more than two hours, continued to answer, never ending questions of the audience with utmost humility and willingness.

Inauguration -

Dr Arbinder Dang and Dr Sweta Gupta conducted the inauguration as masters of the ceremony. Following the welcome address by the North Zone Chairperson Dr Sohani Verma, Dr Nirmala Agarwal presented the annual report of all activities carried out by the North Zone.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof Sir S Arulkumaran in the gracious presence of Guests of Honor – Mr Jaideep Gupta MD, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and Dr Margaret Jane Evans. The AICC Chair Dr Urvashi Prasad Jha, President FOGSI – Dr Alka Kriplani and President AOGD – Dr Sudha Prasad also addressed the audience. The North Zone Patron – Dr M Kochhar and all past Chairperson of North Zone - Dr S K BHandari , Dr Sheila Mehra, Dr Urmil Sharma and Dr Urvashi P Jha were felicitated by Prof Arulkumaran on behalf of all fellows and members of North Zone to express their gratitude and to acknowledge their outstanding contributions for the North Zone.

The vote of thanks were given by Dr Anita Kaul – The treasurer North Zone. The inaugural ceremony was concluded with the National Anthem.

Felicitation Ceremony and Faculty Dinner:

This was organized at the India Habitat Centre on the evening of 9th September 2016. All North Zone RCOG Course Conveners, Co-conveners and teaching faculty were felicitated by Prof Sir S Arulkumaran on behalf of the representative committee of the North Zone AICC RCOG. The three main conveners – Dr Saritha Shamsunder (MRCOG Part II Revision Course), Dr Puneet Kochhar (Enhanced Revision Program Online MRCOG Part II Course) and Dr Mamta Dagar (Basic Practical Skills Course) were awarded a cheque of Rs 10,000/- each, along with a gift and a certificate of appreciation and acknowledgement for their hard work and commitment. The Course Co-conveners – Dr Sweta Gupta (MRCOG Part II Courses), Dr Arbinder Dang (Basic Practical Skills Courses) and Dr Jasmine Chawla (Basic Practical Skills Courses) were awarded Rs 5000/- each, together with a gift and a certificate. All teaching faculty were also felicitated with a certificate and a gift to express sincere thanks for their outstanding contributions towards North Zone Courses.

We at Delhi feel truly rewarded and honoured to have hosted this event and Professor Sir Arulkumaran and Dr Margaret J Evans and sincerely thank the RCOG UK college and AICC for having given us this opportunity. We are also most grateful to AOGD and Dept of Obs & Gynae MAMC who joined us in this prestigious academic endeavor and conducted a very successful session on PPH at MAMC on 10th September.
