LIT & Silsbee ECHS

Minutes of Meeting

10-3-16 @SHS

A) Welcome and was invited to go get something to eat in office staff

B) New Business

Hannah discussed what she was doing with the DORI curriculum in her college readiness program to see if it would fulfills the DORI credit at LIT. We did not get an answer to these questions. Michelle spoke about 2 hours and 1600 minutes that had to be met.

*Michelle has not brought up if there will be any type of summer activities, tutoring, etc that ECHS students can participate in due to the change overs occurring at LIT. She will look into this for our next meeting and find some answers to our questions. She said that some of the items will be brought in February for sure.

·  Update on picture file for LIT-- Hannah is going to check with the company that takes our pictures to see if we can put them in a folder. It was then discussed that we just bring the students to LIT and attend class while a group takes a picture and then flip groups. We suggest late October early November 2nd as dates since we did not have the t drop established for early college students. The group of students would be divided into five groups of five to seat in college classes while the other 20 would take ids. Michele also suggested that we arrive earlier and she would give a little orientation of the area.

·  Update from our Support Coach J. Gentry--Mr. Trevino spoke with the coach for Silsbee and she conveyed the idea to get the students access to the library as soon as possible as well as other opportunities at the LIT facility. This is a part of the MOU and blueprint so we need to get this if we can sooner rather than later. Michele said she would be checking on this again. She elaborated that LIT spends a lot of money so that the LIT students have access to the John Gray Library and our students will have that access as well because they are LIT students after they enroll.

·  Registering for LIT – Spring 2017 speech will be taught by Mary Linn and Ash Windfield. Both ladies are excited and very good at their subject area. It is hard to get instructor to travel up to Silsbee or anywhere so we really need to start looking at the teachers who can qualify to teach next year’s assignments.

Other Business:

Debbie Webb presented the PGO – Personal Graduation Plan to Michele Davis and the rest of the group/ it had all our requirements from the State of Texas which includes the endorsement, post grad plans, state assessments scoring and new crosswalk. Everyone seemed to like it.

Next meeting will be November 3rd at LIT at 11: oo am with lunch to follow.
