Subject: Urgent request from Parkland County & ABA regarding Hwy 60
To All Acheson Companies and association members,
After years of collective lobbying, we are closer than ever previously to achieving the goal of new infrastructure along Hwy 60.
Parkland County Council and Administration recently presented a very practical plan to the Alberta and Federal Governments, requesting approval of new construction for the twinning and rail overpass on Hwy 60 through the Acheson Industrial Area.
Mayor Rod Shaigec has made a request to the ABA, for all Acheson business and associate members traveling through Acheson, large or small to support this effort by filling out and submitting the attached template along with a letter on company letterhead statingthe effects on your businessin terms of time lost and cost due to congestion and passing trains along Hwy 60.
The template covers vehicle movements based on volumes per day for any year (or years) between 2010 – 2014 and future year (2020) forecasts (realizing that these will require certain assumptions).Recognizing the impacts that the economic downturn has had in recent years, there would be a significant reduction in trafficand thus we are omitting the years of 2015 to present.Your information will be used to determine GHGemissions, calculations that Parkland County staff would undertake.
Right now, we need your support more than ever. The more responses that we receive, the better for everyone. Time is of the essence to achieve success. If possible, please make submissions by May 10so Parkland can compile the data for presentation.All responses, to the ABA, will be submitted to Parkland County for presentation mid-May to the Government of Alberta in support of the proposed plan.
If the May 10 date is not conducive to your schedule, Parkland County will accept submissions up toWednesday, May 31 andwill advise the Government there will be additional input forwardedupon receipt.
