Subject :Reflexion Group on the 'Future of the European Statistical Dissemination'

Dear Mr Klein,

Within the framework of the Eurostat Dissemination Working Group, which took place in Luxembourg last April, the decision was taken to create a strategic think tank on the 'Future of the European Statistical Dissemination'. This reflexion was wished at the last DGINS meeting and will be carried out in close co-operation with the CEIES and the Eurostat's Dissemination Committee.

The mission of this group will be to draw up an inventory of the new challenges as regards dissemination and to formulate proposals within the framework of the SSE partnership. The first reflexion tracks are exposed in the attached document as well as the volunteer countries present at the Working Group.

The first meeting, which will take place on 17 September 2001, will aim to finalise the mission of the group and to define a work programme. For that purpose, I would like you to inform me of the name of the person in your organisation that will take part in this group. English will be the work language.

With regard to the travel expenses, Eurostat will be able to ensure the expenses of the first meeting but will not be able to guarantee refunding for the meetings which will follow.

Yours faithfully
