To enable the students to:
  • include relevant details (facts, ideas, vocabulary) while discussing a diary.
● edit diary entry during shared writing.
● use time and sequence vocabulary while writing a diary entry.
● use verbs correctly in the diary entry. (Past tense)
● use full stops and capital letters correctly in the diary entry. / -The objectives of the day’s lesson will be shared with the students.
-The teacher will write the word diary on the board and ask questions from the students.
  1. What is a diary?
  2. What do you use a diary for?
  3. What kind of information do you put in the diary?
-Elicit students’ responses and write them on the board.

-Explain that a diary is used for writing important notes. Another kind of a diary is called a personal diary. In this diary people share their thoughts or happenings of the day in a sequence (i.e. When you woke up, what did you do?)
-Emphasize that a diary is written usually at the end of the day. It starts with date and day. At the end, an ending note is written with the name and signature. It is always written in past tense.
-Use shared writing technique to write a diary entry of the previous day on the board.
-Read it thoroughly with the students, correcting mistakes and adding on.
-Explain the task to students that they have to write about the happenings of the previous dayand write about 5 happenings/events/activities in points, using time order words individuallyin their copies.
-Allocate time for the students to edit their own work.
