Course Description:

English Literature 2 – Students will read short story, drama, myth and folktale, and nonfiction literature. Students will read the stories: The Landlady, Lob’s Girl, Amigo Brothers, Broken Chain, Thank You, M’am, Duffy’s Jacket, Home, Crush, from The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, Prometheus, Aunty Misery, We Are All One, We Will Remain at Peace with Your People Tomorrow, The Horse Snake, Names/Nombres. Students will learn the reading skills of: question, evaluate, predict, infer, respond, cause and effect, visualize, sequence, author’s purpose, main idea and details. Students will learn the literary elements of: foreshadowing, conflict, character, theme, science fiction, tone, fantasy, description, point of view.
