Subject: Berry Hills Testimonial
We have had the pleasure of living at Berry Hills Estates at Katepwa since 2011.
The Purchase Decision
We had been toying with the idea of owning a summer home and were looking for an easy commute from Regina to serve as an escape from the hectic lives of a double income family with active children. We considered resorts at Qu’Appelle Valley and Long Lake, including Regina Beach. In fall of 2010 we took a Sunday drive out to the house being built by Ron and Diane at Berry Hills. The 45 minute drive was ideal; divided highway to Indian Head followed by a short, scenic drive to the lake. The view from the property was breathtaking, evaporating the stress of the crazy pace we were living and our decision was made.
We had never owned a lake property so we were hopeful that this venture would live up to our great expectations.
The Realityof Lake Life
The hills that attracted us have provided endless enjoyment from walking through the crocuses that bloom at the first sign of spring to picking berries as they appear throughout the season. Our physical activity has increased as we enjoy being able to go for long walks and bike rides on the TransCanada trail and the quiet roads along the lakeside. As my kids have grown into teenagers we’ve enjoyed the variety of golf courses available. From the early days of learning to golf at the Family 9 to advancing to golf the courses at Echo, Indian Head and graduating to the occasional challenging play at the picturesque Katepwa course. We also take advantage of the well maintained tennis courts and playground just down the hill; fantastic.
Katepwa Lake itself has a very popular beach to support all the water sports you can imagine. As we enjoy our morning coffee on the deck, from our perch, we observe the first boats of the day breaking the pristine calm of the lake sending ripples through as folks head off to their favourite fishing hole. Throughout the day the lake activity transitions to kayakers and paddle boarders on the calm water of early morning, the laughter of kids frolicking in the water to the background hum of jet skis and boaters before calm breaks in the evening and the shores are speckled with campfires.
Each season at the lake has its own highlights and we enjoy each and every one. The spectacular colors of fall, fun in the snow in winter, the blossoming new growth in spring and the return of the summer vacationers.
The stress of daily city living is just a memory when we arrive at the lake. The quality family time has been invaluable. Building memories didn’t weigh into our decision to purchase a lake home, however it has been the biggest benefit we have received. We could not be happier with life at the lake.
