Themeeting was called to order at 7 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the KC Hall, Jamestown, ND.

Two SCWF/Arnie Swanson Scholarships were presented. Matt Danzl and Landon Weiser were the recipients. Matt is pursuing his Masters of Science degree in Natural Resource Management. By working in this field, Matt hopes to preserve and enhance wildlife conservation to the best of his abilities. Landon is planning to study agronomy and crop science. Landon hopes to work with people who want to find the right level of habitat for wildlife while still being productive and successful with the land.

Treasurer's Report: Assets: Checking $44,179.12, Savings $4,937.88, Log Cabin $25,000 and Cash $48.68 for a total of $74,165.68. Income of $2,080.00 includes: 10 gun $2,000.00, Membership $80.00. Expenses of $5,314.56 includes: Administrative $186.11, Fundraiser $4,860.00, Youth $268.45.

Board Actions: The purchase of brackets for the wood duck houses was approved.

Old Business: Kerry Whipp is checking into getting “Ask to Enter” signs for the club to distribute.

Kerry Whipp reported that the RAP Auction was a huge success.

New Business:Hi-way Clean-up was cancelled due to rain.

This year’s participation incentive prize is denim shirts. They have been ordered and will be distributed at the September 11, 2014 meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Archery: Chair Blaine Jacobs 701-320-6438 –The Outdoor 3-D Shoot was held August 23and 24.

Banquet: Chair Marci Opsahl 701-368-9131 –The Annual Fundraising Banquet will be held Friday, October 17th at the KC Hall. Social begins a 5:30. Dinner will be served at 7pm. Prime Rib will be served. To help with food count, please mail ticket stub and payment to SCWF, PO Box 796, Jamestown, ND 58402 by October 10th. Contact Marci Opsahl to help with solicitations, set-up and games.

Spring 10 Gun Raffle netted $5,477.57.

Club Land Management: Chair Jerry Veil 701-252-7849 and Dave Brandt 701-320-2055 –The club land was burned, sprayed and trees got planted.

Dave Brandt checked into the possibility of wetland and grassland easements for the club land. We can get an easement at any time. An easement would bring an estimated $125,000.00. There would be no restrictions on haying (after July 15th), grazing or burning. Although, this would decrease the retail value of the land.

Habitat: Chair Ernie Dawson 952-7685 – As of the May 8th meeting 160 acres of small food plots were planted in Stutsman County.

Issues: Chair Tom Sklebar 701-489-3490– Tom Sklebar attended the National Wildlife Federation meeting.

Pheasant: Chair Kenneth Anderson 701-489-3581 or 701-320-3318 –The Youth Pheasant Hunt is scheduled for October 5, 2014. For safety reasons, the hunt is limited to the first 20 youth that register. Youth must be ages 11- 15 years old. To register, call Ken Anderson. 701-489-3581 or 701-320-3318

Bob Purcell moved that the SCWF purchase an extra 1000 pheasants (500 hens and 500 roosters) at $7.40/bird to be released near food plots at the Pipestem Reservoir in July. The motion received a second was passed with 14 yes and 8 no votes. Since this meeting, the pheasants were changed to the same dollar amount ($7,400) of roosters only to be banded and released in October. The Wiley Rootie contest will be implemented. Current/paid club members will be receive the locations of the released roosters.

Publicity: Chair Tom Sklebar 701-489-3490 - Youth day and Nest Box Workshop were advertised.

Wood Duck: Chair Bob Martin 701-252-7666 – Nest boxes were put up and necessary repairs were made.

Youth: Chair Kerry Whipp 701-435-2440–Youth Day was cancelled due to wet conditions at the rifle range.

Kerry Whipp applied for a $750 “Encouraging Tomorrow’s Hunters” grant from the ND Game and Fish Department.

Rod O’Clair applied for a $500.000 grant from the NDHEA for the Youth Day and the Youth Pheasant Hunt.

Fishing League: Chair Amanda Krueger and Co-Chair Bob Purcell 701-269-6509 – Started in May and ran through July. 12 teams were registered.

Awards: Please turn in nominations for the T. W. Voight Award by the September 11th meeting.

Program: Thank you to Tom Sklebar for his presentation on Black Powder. No program is scheduled for the September meeting.
