Through Polin
Study Visit for Educators from Poland, Israel and Diaspora
(25 September 2016 - 01 October 2016)
The Through Polin project is directed toward educators from Poland, Israel and the Diaspora who are interested in expanding their knowledge and sharing ideas. During these 7 days participantswill visit the most important places in terms of Polish-Jewish history and meet people from institutions that are not only commemorating the past and preserving the Jewish heritage of Poland, but are also building contemporary Jewish life in Poland.The legacy of Polish Righteous Among the Nations will be one of the key elements of this program.
Aims:
- Learning about Polish-Jewish history, heritage and contemporary Jewish life in Poland
- Exchanging experiences
- Developing joint proposals of educational activities
- Establishing close contacts between educators different countries and creating a starting point for further collaboration
- Building a sense of common heritage and history
The program includes:
- 7 days in Poland: accommodation, transportation and meals included
- Jewish heritage tour around Southern and Central Poland
- Lectures, presentationsfocused on the modernhistory of Jewsin Poland andthe preservationof Jewish heritage
- Meetings withpeople involvedin Polish-Jewish dialogueand education
- Meetingswith representatives of theJewishcommunitiesin Krakow and Warsaw
- Meetings with a Righteous Gentile
- Work in mixedgroupson new forms ofeducational activitiesfor young people
- Writing essays and reports from the study visit for the publication summarizing the project
Who can participate?
Educators, teachers, tour guides, and employees of museums and other cultural and educational institutions.

If you would like to participate, please fill out the application form and send it to Larysa Michalska along with a letter explaining why you wish to participate in this study visit and what impact it will have on your work.

What are the criteria for applicants?
The project is designed for 45 people: 25 from Israel and Diaspora and 15 from Poland, so the number of participants is limited. Here are the admission criteria:
- Submission ofthe applicationwithin the prescribed period (applications submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration)
- The correctnessandcompleteness ofthe application
- Participation in seminars andtraining courseson similar subjects
- Involvementin remembrance, heritage preservation, and dialogue activities
- Impact of participation in this project on the applicant’s work
- Knowledge of English is required
- The participants are obliged to write a short essay or report from the project and to submit it to the organizers within 2 weeks after the study visit
What are the costs?
The participants have to cover the costs of their travel to Kraków and back from Warsaw.
Accommodation, food, transportation, educational materials, etc. during the study visit are paid for the organizers.
