This form must be completed for any faculty member seeking a travel award for developing a Study Abroad Proposal. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Paloma Rodriguez (ext. 5607 or S-130). Award application is due January 17, 2013.

If so, please list the locations you traveled to, the dates you traveled, as well as the
main purpose for each trip.
5. Academic Offerings:Please describe the course(s) you plan to offer.
6.Overview and rationale for the program. Describe how the proposed program will meet the needs of SF undergraduate, degree-seeking students.
7.Faculty experience: Brieflydescribe faculty/program sponsor’s knowledge of the country/region proposed for travel and study, and explain his or her qualifications to lead the program. Describe previous courses taught on the country/region and previous travel to the country/region.
8. Program cost to students: Please give a range for what the program costs for students are expected to be based on any preliminary evidence you have gathered.
  1. Follow-up Activities:How will the experience and lessons learned go beyond just the small
group of students that were able to travel? What will the faculty member do, as well as require
their students to do, in order to ensure there is wider engagement and that there is a
contribution to the internationalization of SF?
  1. Please attach an estimation of costs for your trip, including lodging, airfare, meals,
in-country transportation, as well as any support your department can provide.
  1. Attach a letter of support from your Chair – this can be brief but must state that he or
she is willing and able to make provisions for time you may be away from other
responsibilities when leading your study abroad program.
  1. Sign and attach the Commitment Statement agreeing to submit a final study abroad
proposal to the International Education Office by the proposal due date.
Please note: The committee reviewing your proposal will judge based on your ability to demonstrate that you will be able to handle the responsibilities of putting together a full-fledged program, as outlined in the Study Abroad Faculty Handbook, which can be found on the International Education website under Forms and Documents: You will also be judged on the fit of your program with Santa Fe needs. For example, putting together a program that will take students to a region we have not been to before with courses offered that will attract enough students.
Faculty Commitment Statement
By signing this application I am promising to submit a final study abroad proposal to the
International Education Office by the proposal due date if am awarded and accept travel funds.
If any circumstances arise that prevent me from completing my proposal, I will contact the IE
Coordinator in order to come up with a resolution.
