FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Studio Montclair presents In Memoriam: Clarence Mather, Works on Paper, opening on September 19th. A fitting memorial to this founding member, who passed away in August of 2013, the exhibit includes 25 pieces by the artist. We see his unique mono prints, pastels and watercolors and also discover how he combined prints with collage, pen and washes.

The reception for Mather’s works on paper will be on Friday, September 19th from 7 to 9 at SMI Gallery @ Academy Square, 33 Plymouth Street 1st floor, Montclair, NJ

Clarence Mather contributed to the world of art for over sixty years. An artist both by profession and avocation, he worked as an art director in textile design and produced many successful works in his experimentation with different media. Mather was one of the original members of Studio Montclair Inc. and contributed to its success by his willingness and enthusiasm to promote the arts through it.

Studio Montclair Inc. is a non-profit organization of exhibiting professional artists and others interested in the visual arts. It aims to promote culture and education in the visual arts and encourage emerging artists. Founded in 1997, the organization has over 300 members, including artists from around the United States

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and administered by the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
