Message from Mrs. Saunders......
"Tigers Lead with a ROAR"
This week we honor all of our volunteers for the many hours they have given to our school and students. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful volunteers helping in our classrooms, planning events and working on the PTA Board and committees. Thank you for your support of our staff and dedication to our students. We also want to send a very special thank you to Cat Bigham for her outstanding leadership this year as PTA President. Her constant support and mission to give back to our school are very much appreciated by our Tesoro Family. Together, with the support of our families, we provide the best possible educational experiences for our children.
Thank you to Mrs. Fenelon and Mrs. Song for a fun-filled afternoon for the International Festival. We appreciate your help in celebrating the diversity at Tesoro del Valle. I wonder who received my letter from Australia...
WOW! I attended my very first elementary school debate last week. Thank you to Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Kohli for leading our GATE students into the world of debate. I was so impressed with the quality of research and the arguments presented by our grade level teams. The challenge has been issued to other schools to join in next year.
We ask that students coming to school (grades 1-6) enter the playground using the front gate. Kindergarten students and parents please enter through the side gate. The gates open at7:50 a.m.
Students need to be on campus by8:05 a.m.Students are tardy if they are not in their class line at8:10 a.m.

SAFETY
Thank you for your support in following traffic rules around our campus. Please remember there is no parking during pick up in the front parking lot and the lot by the lunch area.
Please use the valet line for drop off and pick up. If your child has signed up to participate in the valet or escort program, please remind them to be diligent in honoring their commitment (students should arrive at7:45 a.m.on their appointed day(s). Please have your children use designated crosswalks at all times. Safety is our number one concern.
Distracted drivingis the main cause of crashes on the roadways today. You should do everything you can to focus your attention to the task of driving. To help keep you safe while driving please review the tips below:
Avoid Distractions- Common distractions are cell phones, radios, purses/bags, eating or grooming, GPS/Navigating, other people.
  • Studies have proven that talking on a cell phone while driving affects you the same way as two shots of liquor.
Make Adjustments- Before you begin driving you should enter your navigation information, familiarize yourself with the controls of the vehicle you are driving, and adjust seat, mirrors, steering wheel, or anything else that will aid you in being a safer driver.
Avoid Multitasking -The task of driving our vehicles is to keep everyone safe. Neurologists have shown there is no such thing as multitasking, you are actually just switching very, very rapidly between many things. You are not getting more done; you are actually getting less done with more opportunities for distractions.
Below are Tesoro's safety guidelines:
Please be courteous and follow the safety guidelines in the parking lot and around the school. The safety of all our students is our number one concern. Please help us by following these rules when dropping your students off in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon. Please drive slowly in the Parking Lot.
Please enter Bernardo Way from Mission Trail. Mission Trail can be accessed from Rio Ranch Way. Please avoid taking Mission Trail from Rancho Tesoro Drive.
If you are parking and walking up:
  • If you are walking your child on to the campus, please use the sidewalks. Do not walk through the parking lot or through the drop-off lane.
  • Please park on the school side of the street. If you park on the opposite side of the street, please cross above the exit driveway. It is unsafe to cross through cars leaving the driveway.
  • Avoid using Tango Drive to make u-turns and for drop off. This is a private street and it has no sidewalks.
If you are using the valet line:
  • Drop-off begins at7:50 a.m. There is no supervision before this time.
  • Only right turns will be allowed when entering and exiting the driveway.
  • Make one lane only. Students can only be dropped off on the school side.
  • The valet zone begins after the blue crosswalk. Students should not exit your car before you reach this area.
  • Please pull all the way up. Once you are stopped, have students exit the car. Do not wait to pull up to the first spot.
  • Students should remain in their seat belts until you have stopped to let them out.
  • Do not drop your Kindergartner off at the Kindergarten gate.
  • Do not exit your car. Students need to be ready to exit the car with backpacks, etc.
  • Please do not put backpacks in the trunk.
  • Please be patient. Do not honk at the cars in front of you.
  • The parking spaces are for staff parking only. Do not use them for student drop-off.
Thank you for assisting us in ensuring the safety of all our students.
