Introuduction to Alice- / Subject/Period

How do I open Alice, add objects and move simple objects? What do I use to have a dialogue between characters? How do I know which method to use to move my characters? How do I save my Alice world
Teacher C. Stortz / Goal/ Essential Standard ISTE Standards 1-C, 4-B, / Objective Students will open Alice, add objects and have a 10 second dialogue and save Alice.
Starter (using projector to show)

Song from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (1960?) / Learning Target: “ICan”
Students will create an Alice world and opening dialogue in myfirstmethod.
Students will drop a camera dummy for the start scene
Students will place three objects in the world, position them and make one invisible and reappear.
Students will create dialogue between 2 characters, moving camera to person talking.
Instructional Strategies (Nebraska uses ISTE standards for state Standards)
  1. Creativity and innovation- Students will model the information and set up an Alice simulation as practice for another project. 1-C

Procedure
  1. Show Alice video of Happy Unbirthday. Video shows what students can do and includes billboard with credits. Terms- object, Object tree, positioning, cameraview, drop dummy at camera, properties
  2. Have students find and open Alice, setting up new world with grass.
  3. Students will place the objects of Alice, White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat.
  4. Click on more controls. Click drop a dummy at camera. In the object tree, rename as cameraView and click to open sub objects. Rename dummy as start.
  5. Click Alice and White Rabbit respectively, students will resize, turn, and free move to position objects
  6. Click on Cheshire Cat. Resize to larger using the button second from right. Position between Alice and the white Rabbit. Click on the Cheshire cat in the object tree (Upper left side). On the middle left side, make sure the word properties is open. Choose isShowing= and change it to false.
  7. Click done. Go to File- Save as Alice1 and make sure it has a .a2w ending. Save where you can find it.
Day 2
  1. Open Alice program then go to file and choose your world from day before.
  2. New terms code, drag and drop ,do together, do in order, methods (explaining different methods as needed), dialogue,
  3. Following along with the instructor, fill in the worldmyfirstmethod box with code to animate characters, move camera and make the Cheshire cat appear and say meow.
  4. Save file.

Choose a short poem that can be animated from the list.(List will be taken from Literature Book or other appropriate source)
