To inform all schools of the registration procedures and details concerning the upcoming Science Fair and SECME competitions
The Division of Mathematics, Science, and Advanced Academic Programs is providing the following information on the upcoming Science Fairs and SECME competition:
Date:Saturday, January 21, 2012
Location:Miami Dade College, North Campus
11380 Northwest 27 Avenue
Miami, FL 33167
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (includes awards programs)
  • Students are expected to remain for the entire day’s schedule, especially those awarded in the Superior category and Special Awards for South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
  • Project/Entry Check-in:
Date:Friday, January 20, 2012
Time:3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • A detailed competition program will be sent to registered schools in December.
  • Electronic registration is required for participation of each project (Science Fair and SECME) and will be available on Wednesday,November9, 2011at:

oAll projects intended to be submitted to all science
competitionsmust be registered during the above time-frame.
oHard-copies of signed, required documentation of project boards
(Secondary Science Fair), found in the Science Fair website under
Registration Information must arrive at the Division of Mathematics,
Science, and Advanced Academic Programs no later than Thursday,
December 8, 2011 by 4:00 p.m. All paperwork should be hand delivered
or if posted through U.S. mail, request a return receipt of delivery.
Please do not submit documentation via school mail.
  • Project /Entry fee: Entry fees must be received no later than:
oRegional Science Fair: Thursday, December 8, 2011. $20 per project
board, research paper, and/or bridge
oSECME: Monday, December 12, 2011. $50 per school level (along with
Essay hardcopy and Rocket Patch/Report)
oElementary Science Fair:Wednesday, December 14, 2011. $20 per
project along with Safety Approval Forms
  • Please be aware, that projects withincomplete registrations and/or required research forms will be disqualified.See attached Science Competitions Deadlines Checklist
Board Item H-11 proffered by Dr. Martin Karp, Member, and approved by The School Board on January 16, 2008, indicates that all middle and senior high schools are required to submit at least one (1) entry in the South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair (SFRSEF).
