Student Worker Responsibilities

§  Call Sheila if you are going to miss work or are more than 10 minutes late.

§  Student workers should be polite, courteous and professional when responding to student requests.

§  Student employees are expected to become familiar with all functions of the Learning Center: Printing, Copying, Print card dispenser, computers, tutoring hours and locations.

§  Wear name badge while on duty.

§  Visitors are prohibited inside the Info Desk area.

§  Maintain a neat and organized work area. Before leaving each day, take all lost and found flash drives and anything else of value into the office (room 210), refill paper in printers and turn off Info Desk computer monitor.

§  When on duty, keep voices low and respectful.

§  Be familiar with Los Angles Mission College campus.

§  Walk around the Learning Center.

·  Push in all chairs and straighten computers to face forward. Do not pull the monitor forward.

·  Pick up trash. Make sure nobody has food or drinks. Water bottles are allowed, but must be placed on the floor or inside bags.

·  Pick up USBs or school supplies that have been left behind. Put them in the lost and found drawer located under printer #1

·  Make sure all computers are working properly, if not, restart the computer.

§  Student Workers are to log in upon arrival no earlier than 7 minutes before their shift and log out no later than 7 minutes at the end of their shift.

§  You are responsible for your own timesheet. If you are a Work Study Student or CalWorks student worker, you will get your timesheet from those offices, fill them out and submit to Sheila for signature. If you are an LRC or Basic Skills student worker, your timesheet will be in a folder next to the log in computer in Room 210. Fill it out, sign and date it and leave it in the folder.

§  At the beginning of every shift each student worker needs to make sure the computers are operating (powered on)

§  The computers have nettrack loaded properly (even the dsps and esl & reading lab computers next to rm. 205)

§  Also, the computers are oriented straight forward in order to be presentable to the next user (this also helps the cables from being pulled which leads to broken pins/plugs)
