Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP)

Application 2016-2017

Parents: Your child has shown an interest in participating in STLP this school year. Please read all information below and make sure your child understands that STLP is a project-oriented group. We look for ways to use Technology to help our school and community. We learn a lot and work hard. Since this is Baker’s first year with an STLP group, our participant numbers are limited. Please have them consider the questions on the back seriously. Incomplete applications will be discarded.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

STLP sessions will meet after school on Mondays from 2:30pm – 4:00pmin Ms. Decker’s Room 79 or Computer Lab. We will meet only if there is school. Parents must be able to pick-up students promptly at 4:00pm in the car loop.

Applications will be accepted the week of September 19th – September 23rdby submitting them to Ms. Decker in Room 79. No Applications will be accepted after these dates.

Students will be notified if they are invited to join the group by Wednesday, September 28th and our first meeting will be held on Monday, October 3rd.

Participation Requirements

In order to participate in STLP, you must meet the following requirements. There are 3 categories that must be met to participate.

ACADEMICS

Students must maintain A’s and B’s in all classes to remain in STLP. If at any time your report card grade in any subject is below a B, you will be asked to leave STLP.

ATTENDANCE

Students must attend all meetings! Students with more than 3 unexcused absences will be excused from STLP. Sick Days also need to be reported to the Coordinator by the parent on the day of absence.

Students are also responsible for reporting to Ms. Decker’s room to receive letters and communications. If a student does not act responsibly, pick up their papers, and also give letters to a parent for signatures, they will be asked to leave STLP.

BEHAVIOR

Students must maintain good behavior during STLP activities/meetings, as well as during the school day.

Students are expected to:

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Be respectful to all students, teachers, and equipment.

Make good choices that are expected during the regular school day.

Follow all Baker Intermediate expectations of behavior.

Incidences of inappropriate behavior will be reported to parents.

*Students who receive more than 1 Afterschool Detention will be asked to leave STLP.

PERMISSION

I give permission for my student to participate in STLP at Baker Intermediate School, if selected. By applying, we agree the student will attend the weekly meetings and be on time. Students with more than 3 unexcused absences will lose membership to STLP. We have also read the Academic and Attendance clauses and agree to abide by them.
