WEEK 1
  1. Reconnaissance survey and site visit.
  2. Official reporting to the site.
  3. Transportation of formwork from 1st to 2nd floor.
  4. Erection of kicker formwork for future columns.
  5. Casting, vibrating and curing of kickers.

  1. The site was well surveyed
  2. I successfully reported to site and began work as suggested.
  3. Formwork to kicker was well made.
  4. Kicker well casted and vibrated

  1. Language barrier which affected my communication with others.
  2. Use of old nails which affected work speed.
  3. Lack of temporary facilities like clinic to aid first aid.
  4. Lack full safety gear like hand gloves.

  1. Kicker should be erected to ease erection of column.
  2. Curing facilitates gain of full strength to concrete.

WEEK 2
  1. Bending and fixing of column reinforcement
  2. Removal of kicker formwork, erection and plumbing of column formwork.
  3. Casting of columns
  4. Curing of reinforced columns

  1. The reinforcement of column was successfully done.
  2. The formwork for the column and casting was successfully done including curing.

  1. Few workers which delayed work
  2. Delay in payment of workers which made the work stunted at some point
  3. Short struts for supporting formwork which affected plumbing
  4. Nails used also kept on bending.

  1. Formwork should be well supported to aid plumbing
  2. Workers should be paid in time to facilitate work progress
  3. Questions should be asked by learners to aid learning
  4. Curing should be often done

WEEK 3
  1. Un installation of column formwork
  2. Erection of canopy formwork for 2nd floor.
  3. Bending and fixing of reinforcements to 2nd floor canopy
  4. Laying hollow max span blocks in 2nd floor canopy
  5. Laying conduits and water pipes

  1. Removal of formwork was well done
  2. Reinforcements were well bent and fixed
  3. Max spans were well laid
  4. Pipes were also well fixed

  1. Casting was not successfully done in the same week
  2. Work was also delayed by late coming of workers
  3. Injury due to nailing
  4. Segregation of concrete
/ I learnt how to uninstall column formwork.
Care must be taken while removing formwork by use of protective wear.
Column reinforcement must be measured to cater for kicker reinforcement.
WEEK 4
  1. Casting of canopy to 2nd floor
  2. Curing of 2nd floor canopy
  3. Erection of beam formwork to 3rd floor.
  4. Bending and fixing of beam formwork

  1. Canopy was well casted.
  2. It was well cured using water.
  3. Beam formwork was well erected.
  4. Reinforcement was well bent and fixed.

  1. Presence of reinforcements affected the effectiveness of vibration.
  2. Props were too short and required enough support.
  3. Some plans were postponed to the other week due to some delays.
/
  1. Long poles should be used to support formwork.
  2. The Timber pieces (crosses) should be at least one meter long.
  3. Beam formwork to sides should be well supported with struts.
